'-3 v- Naming Our City Streets By ALBERT E. NORMAN Here, as In other cities, streets are frequently named for the relatives of people who pioneered the region, owned ft or worked in it. Alida Street in East Oakland is a case in point. It was named by Charles C. Young, surveyor and one-time city councilman, for his mother, Alida.

While he was surveying another street for a subdivision, linnets kept perching oh Young's instruments.
