December 2. at 10 a.m. in the Berkeley Hurt Seriously In Street Fight ALAMEDA, Dec. 1 A sailor and a young civilian suffered serious head injuries early today in a street brawl in which some eight youths were involved. Four Alameda Naval Air Station sailors were, arrested for disturbing the peace.

According to police, Patrolman Noah Garrett was cruis ing in the 400 block of Webster St. when he saw the fight going on in a parking lot. He called for help and two patrol cars responded. When the officers halted the fight two' youths were found unconscious Injured were Lauren Ma-Ione, 20, a civilian, of 1523 Verdi who was taken to Highland Hospital after first aid treatment, and Gary Joseph Davies, 30, an Airman, who was to the Naval Air Station dispensary. Taken into custody were Frank Atfon Peterson, 20, Charlej Clark Thorne, 21, Robert Dale Martin, 22, and James Gary Henderson, 20 all airmen attached to Patrpl Squadron 19.

Police said the fight started when two groups o'f men came otjt of separate bars. Martin admitted having kicked Davies in the face. He said Davies had kicked Ma- lone in the head. Services Held for Clark Gester BERKELEY, Dec. 1 Private Juneral services have been he'td for Clark Gester, 75, a retired geologist, whose home was ai ZY20 uiaremom eiva.

Mr. Gester, who died last Thursday, was chief geologist for the Standard Oil Co. of California when he retired in 1949. He had traveled on every cpntinent in a world-wide search for oil during his ca reer. A mining engineering graduate of the University of California in 1909.

he was a member of a Sigma Xi honor society, the American Institute of Mining Engineers, a past president of the American Association Petroleum Geologists and a fellow of the California Academy of Sciences. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Helen Gester; three sons, Harry of Walnut Creek, George of San Rafael and William of Sacramento; a brother, Howell Gester of Napa, and six grandchildren.
