20, 1991 at his home in Waskom following an extended illness. He was bom May 21, 1912 in Carthage, a son of Frank Hudson and Bertie Fowler Hudson. He married Lillian Porter on July 15, 1933 in Gary, who preceded him in death on Jan. 25, 1974. He was an insulator for Ark-La-Gas in Waskom and Shreveport.

He retired in May 1974 after 28 years service. He was previously employed by Brown and Root Construction Co. He attended Gary public schools and was a member of First Baptist Church in Waskom. Survivors include one son, Leon Hudson of Shreveport; three daughters, Ethel Johnson, Louise Carver and Myra Posey, all of Waskom; two sons-in-law, Johnny Johnson and Bob Posey, both of Waskom; 12 grandchildren, Robert Shayne Posey and Syonia Johnson, both of Waskom, Irby Liu of Long-view, Era Lampkin of Benton, Sherry Brown of Pasadena, Jeff Carver, Russell Hudson and Scott Hudson, all of Bossier City, David Carver of Houston, Harold Carver Jr. of Pasadena, Rickey Hudson of Frieson, and Rachel Hudson of Shreveport; 17 greatgrandchildren; two brothers, Hubert Hudson of Kamack and Herman Hudson of Odessa; one sister, Beth Johnson of Woodlawn; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be H.F. "Mac" McEachern, J.W. Smith, Dave Foreman, David Knight Dave Favors and Ray Jemigan. Alternates will be Coy Hattaway, Billy Jacobs Loyce Moody, Buddy Earl and Bob Johnson. Starling Hood Lewis Funeral Home MARSHALL Funeral services for Starling "Happy" Hood of Kamack will be held at 1 p.m.

Saturday at Mt. Ridge Baptist Church, Kamack, with the Rev. P.T. Shaw officiating. Burial will be in Sipps Cemetery, Kamack, under direction of Lewis Funeral Home.

Mr. Hood died Saturday, Feb. 16, 1991 at his home. Bom in Kamack, he was a son of Dock Hood and Ellen Webb Hood He attended Harrison County public schools, was a retired fishing guide and was a member of Mt. Ridge Baptist Church in Kamack.

Survivors include four sons, Dock Hood, Fred Hood and James Hood, all of Kamack and George Hood of Wharton; four daughters, Willie Mae Oliver, Mattie Hood, Susie Hood and Margaret Ester, all of Kamack; 18 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A family hour will be held at the funeral home today from 6-7 p.m. Acely Taylor of Oakland, one sister, Geraldine Johnson; one brother, Fred M. Taylor, one sister-in-law, Helen Taylor, all of Marshall; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Ray Newman Sullivan Funeral Home HARLETON Funeral services for Ray Franklin Newman, 67, of Central Harieton, will be held at 4 pjn.

Saturday at First Baptist Church, Harieton, with the Rev. Dave and the Rev. Martin Fenn officiating. Burial will be in Center Cemery, Harieton, with arrangements by the Sullivan Family of Funeral Directors. Mr.

Newman died at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, 1991 at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview. He wasbom April 3, 1923 in Harieton, a son of Ray Maxie Newman and Corine Baker Newman. He married Lois Watson on August 23, 1947 in Talco.

He was superintendent of Harieton public schools from 1962 until he retired in 1984 and served as a coach at Harieton for 15 years. He attended Harieton public schools, East Texas Baptist University, East Texas State University, and the University of Texas. He was a Methodist Mr. Newman was a member of the Texas Association of Schools Administrators, T.S.T.A. and JLA.

He was a member of a pioneer Harrison County family who was instrumental in the development of the Harieton area. He was well known throughout Texas for his educational expertise. He served 22 years as superintendent of schools in Harieton. Survivors include his wife, LoL Watson Newman of Harieton; one daughter and son-in-law, Fran and Clifford Scott of White Oak; one son and daughter-in-law, Frankie and Patricia Newman of White Oak; five grandchildren, Franklin Allen Scott, Ranita Rachelle Scott, Kelly Laine Newman, Kassey Logan Newman and Kristopher L. Newman, all of White Oak; and one sister, Mrs.

Louis (Mary Lou) Williams of Paris. Pallbearers will be Robert Og-den, Doyle Jones, Z.T. Craver, Ronnie Pope, Richard Hardy, Glen Ivey, Randall Martin and Steve Sutton. The body will be at Sullivan Funeral Home Travis Street until 2 pm. Saturday.

Jim Ena Ammerman Sullivan Funeral Home MARSHALL Funeral for Ena Louise (Mamie) Barker Ammerman, 82, of 2500 Kamack Highway, Marshall, were held at 2 p.m. today at Travis Street Chapel of Sullivan Funeral Home with the Rev.

Karl Gerlach officiating. Burial was in Algoma Cemetery-North. Mrs, Ammerman died at 5 ajn. Wednesday, Feb. 20, 1991 at Shady Pines Boarding Home in Marshall.

Bora March 16, 1908 in Wew-oka, she was a daughter of William Riley Barker and Karthryn Dell Auman. She attended Wew-oka, public schools, Schonell School of Nursing and Nursing school at Memorial Hospital. She was a registered nurse at Memorial Hospital in Marshall until she retired in 1976. She had previously worked in Schonell, Okla. and Victoria.

She was a Presbyterian. Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Dolores Ammerman of Marshall; two grandsons, Jim Ammerman II of Marshall and Edward Ammerman of Dallas; one granddaughter, Kathy Ammerman Horner of Dickinson; seven greatgrandchildren, Erik Ammerman, Marisa Ammerman, Richard Horner, Jeffery Horner, Ashley Ammerman, Blake Ammerman and Kendal Ammerman; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Jim Ammerman in 1985. Pallbearers will be Rusty Asaff, Rod Watson, Clay Allen, Hank McDaniel, Ronnie Matthews and Albert Agnor. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr.

Jerry Gullion, Jim Bates and Albert Binotti. Alvin A. Taylor OAKLAND, Calif. Funeral services for Alvin A. Taylor of 5755 Dover Street, Oakland, were held at the Chapel of The Chimes, Piermont Street in Oakland, at 11 a.m.

today. He died Friday, Feb. 15, 1991. Mr. Taylor, the son of the late Arduous A.

Taylor and Hagar Rebecca Newhouse Taylor, was bom in the Pleasant Hill Community in Hallsville, Texas. He was baptized at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church at an early age. He attended Cooperville Elementary School and graduated from Central High School, Marshall, Texas in 1936. His academic education at Bishop College was interrupted by service in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Mr. Taylor married Cleo Acely and moved to Oakland, where he was a carpenter until his retirement. Survivors include his wife, Cleo MARSHALL Two Arlington men were arrested on drug charges Thursday when officers found over 1 1 ,000 in marijuana in their vehicle during a routine traffic stop on Highway 59 Norjh, police said, Eduardo Garcia, 29, and Hector Martinez, 25, were each charged with felony possession 6f marijuana. Garcia also was charged on a theft by check warrant from Tarrant County. In addition, Garcia was charged on Dallas County warrants for a probation violation and failure to appear, both of which are related to DWI arrests.

Marshall Police Lt R.D. Henderson said the suspects were stopped on the highway near a convenience store because their vehicle was weaving between lanes without giving directional signals. In the 4 to 5-year-old girls division, winners were Kimberly Ann McDonald, daughter of Sally and Sam McDonald; Kirsten Singleton, daughter of Venesha and Kennedy Singleton; and Sherika Morrow, daughter of Earnest and Gail Morrow.
