MARSHALL NEWS MESSENGER Waskom Continued from Page IB he darted in from two yards out. The PAT was good. The Wildcats refused to submit to defeat as they mounted their first scoring drive of the game early in the fourth quarter. On first down from his own 29-yard line, Wildcat quarterback Brown unloaded a 71-yard bomb to sophomore Kirby Edwards, who caught the ball between two defenders and sprinted the distance for a touchdown. Thejtwo-point conversion attempt failed, leaving Waskom down 30-6 at the 8:07 mark of the game.

"You can't take anything away from our players," Bunton said. "They have played excellent ball all year long. We had a great year and tonight we just got beat by a great football team." Hawkins scored its second touchdown with 6:28 to go in the third quarter when Waddleton slipped up the middle virtually untouched from the three. The point after attempt was good and the Hawks increased the lead to 16-0. The Hawks made it 23-0 two minutes later, capitalizing on a Waskom fumble when Jordan rambled in from the 15-yard line.

"Dutton was really in our plans as a starter or backup starter. "If Randy (White) or Kevin (Brooks) had gotten hurt, Dutton could have been our starter.
