"Chris Owens is a huge loss for us. How could it not be?" said freshman point guard T.J. Ford. "We know Chris Owens' are some big shoes to fill. Everybody on this team has to step it up a notch in the Big 12," said forward Brian Boddicker.

Owens cried when he talked with reporters after his injury. "I feel bad," he said. "The team will go on. They'll get better. But they need the fans' support now more than ever." For coach Rick Barnes, the challenge is keeping his team's spirits up.
