It keeps her a slim arid trim 101 pounds. "I usually walk around the basketball court (at Kwane Doster Community Center) 18 times in the morning," Love said while sitting with friends to watch the dance competition Tbesday. Love also loves the Senior Games, having faithfully attended them since 1997.

Competitors and participants are 50 and older. The competitions, which continue Monday through Friday, range from baking to bowling, shuffleboard to swimming. For Dee Dee DeNormandie and Arda Unyan, the dancing couple Pineda was admiring, the competition takes a back seat to the fun and fellowship. Competition, said DeNormandie, drains the fun out of the dancing. "If it's not fun, I don't want to do it," DeNormandie said.

Eca Pineda hopes it's contagious, the lively spirit that makes, say, a 94-year-old dip his 85-year-old girlfriend and smooch her on the cheek while jitterbugging and waltzing on a makeshift dance floor. It's the kind of spunk that made Pineda, a Hillsborough County Parks and Recreation employee, volunteer to work the Senior Games at the University Area Community Center on TAiesday. "I hope I'm that active when I get there," Pineda said while watching people more than twice her age move and groove with the energy of teenyboppers. the nearly 200 senior citizens gathering to compete, perform and spectate including an Elvis impersonator and the Show Steppers dance troupe from Brandon being a senior means more than liniment and living long.
