Shelton, editor of the Shelby Daily Star, suffered a fatal heart attack here yesterday just one hour after he participated in a physical fitness program. Shelton. 37, suffered the attack at 9:30 a.m. at his home. He was rushed to a hospital where he died an hour later.

He had no history of heart trouble, his family reported. The young editor, a native of Gaston County, had jogged a mile with a group of businessmen at 7:30 a.m. in what was part of a citywide recreation program which began last week. Shelton, who served as editor of the afternoon daily for about 18 months, was an avid supporter of the physical fitness program and helped organize it. Part of the program, designed mainly for businessmen, 'called for participants to run a mile three times a week.
