and is so popular that it has been recently re-released in Britain. Stay tuned. By NEIL HORNER Observer Reporter ANYONE WHO doubts that Canada has a vibrant film industry should experience a profound attitude shift when the Quesnel Film Club presents their second-last movie of the spring season. Director Mort Ran-sen's film, Margaret's Museum has been attracting attention across Canada and, indeed, at film festivals around the world. And no wonder.

The film won no less than six Genie awards this year, including Best Actress for Helena Bonham Carter's portrayal of Cape Breto-ner Margaret MacNeil, and Best Screenplay. The English language film portrays a love story with a macabre twist, set in the late 1940's Glace Bay, where mining is a way of life and death. Margaret swears like a man, tries to shock people, and insists she isn't going to be a coal miner's wife. Then the gentle, bagpipe-playing giant, Neil Currie stumbles into her life and she falls in love. Helena Bonham Carter stars in Margaret's Museum.
