1 I I MU vf gHl Pfel Ml Jkx u-zxj tor Cigar Bowl games. Seven Positions. Dragons Four In Annual Selection By JOHN CASH Tribune Sports Writer That modern day football has caught up with us is reflected in the 1952 Tampa all-city high school team which is announced tpday. For this year the all-city team is composed of an offensive eleven and a defensive eleven two pla toons instead of a first and second team as in the past. The 22 boys were selected to the squad by a committee from The Tribune and Tampa Times.

And the selections were not easy. Usually completely dominated by seniors, this year's team has six juniors and two sophomores to go with its 14 senior members. Shields, Pitisci Captains Billy Shields, Plant's outstanding fullback, was named captain of the offensive team while Hillsborough's Don Pitisci was made captain of the defensive alignment. Hillsborough heads the selections with nine players, four on the offensive team and five on the defensive team. Plant is next with seven, Jefferson four, Jesuit one and Our Lady of Perpetual Help one.

It is the first time in the history of the all-city that an OLPH player has made the first team. Terriers making the offensive eleven were Tackle Bill Post, Guard Horace Taylor and Backs At Hickory, N. C. Coach Clarence Stasavich said that barring unfor seen practice injuries or sickness his Bears would be in peak physical condition when they meet the i.j u. zM lis ksM4 -n Spartans.

The Bear coaches were busy explaining the Tampa formations in more detail. The drills were ended by a brisk contact session which lasted about 20 minutes. (Special) One of the youngest and shortest Florida basketball teams in recent years, will unfold its 1952 cage season Wednesday night.

The Gators play host to Florida Southern in Gainesville with starting time set at 8:15 P. M. The loss of lettermen George Hitchins and Stan Fridman and the temparary absence of center Rick Casares has prompted Coach John Mauer to try two freshmen in starting positions. Casares will join the cage squad after the Florida-Tulsa Gator Bowl football game. Mauer's starting quintet, a relatively diminutive outfit in college basketball with a 6-1 average, has only two seniors on the varsity squad holding down regular berths.

It is possible that the state's biggest prep conference will also divide its football teams into sections, much like the South Florida Conference. 8 Supporters of President Ellis Ryan on the Cleveland Indians' board of directors said today they would join him and sell their stock when he resigns. A newspaper reporter polled the pro-Ryan faction on the baseball club's directorship of 12 and found that all five will follow Ryan's lead. Since Ryan is a director, too, that would leave only six on the board. Sources close to the club still confidently predict Ryan will go-probably this week. Ryan himself, however, insisted today he knows "nothing about a stock sale or even a stock offer." He also stated that he knew nothing about any directors planning to leave with him.
