The observance of Purim has thus become for Jews an occasion for recalling the evil of religious persecution and for re-dedication to freedom of worship. In the synagogue the Purim festival assumes a joyous note, especially for the children. Youngsters participate in school presentations of Purim plays and attend spe-c i a 1 worship services. Frequently, both in the synagogue and at home, costume parties are conducted by young and adults.

A Jewish festival which Combines the frivolity of Mardi Gras with the serious message of universal religious freedom will be marked with the observance of the holiday of Purim, the Feast of Lots, from sundown March 13 through sundown the next day. 5. the Hebrew word Purim' means "lots" and refers to the manner in which Hainan cliftse the day on which to destroy all the Jews. Though she's only five years old, she knows how to pray.

It is perfectly natural for her to kneel hy her mother's side at bedtime and "talk to God." She. has a head start over children who have never experienced this kind of communion. For there are many youngsters throughout our land who have never learned to pray, simply because no one has ever taught them. For that matter, she's ahead of a good many grownups, too! No one, of course, is ever too old to learn how to pray. But those who learn young are fortunate, for constant prayer builds a faith that will sustain them all their lives.

Give your child the gift of prayer by taking him to church, by enrolling him in church school, and by listen ing to his prayers at home, each and every night.
