Whitley was sentenced Oct. 31 to a lite term in the Indiana State Prison after pleading guilty to kidnaping a deputy sheriff at Vernon in the same shooting spree which killed Trooper William R. Kellems here. Whitley was already under indictment for first degree murder here at the time of the senlencing. Peru Man Plans To Appeal Jail Sentence To Stafe Supreme Court PERU Ray Warren, 37 of Peru, who was taken to Michigan City State Prison by Sheriff Arthur Johns to serve a two to 14 year sentence on a charge of SOdomy, will be returned to the Miami county jail due to an error on the commitment papers. Warren cannot. be committed until action is taken on his appeal for a review.

His Attorney, Richard Rhodes, said he plans to appeal the case to the State Supreme Court. Warren will be held in jail under $25,000 bond on five charges for indecent assault battery on his 16-year-old daughter and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, Two Men Charged In Miami Circuit Court PERU Alvie Davis and William Starr have been charged with assault and battery with attempt to' commit a felony and with drawing a deadly weapon in affidavits filed in Miami circuit court. Their bonds trave been set at $1,000 each, The two Peru men were arrested following an altercation with Davis' brother Irvin, 21, in which he was stabbed with a knife.
