THE TANTA TIMES SPARKY By Mel Casson Thursday, June 1964 W. J. Veigel Dies at 66 William J. Veigel, 66, 6514 N. Armenia a retired educator in the business field, died last night in a Tampa hospital.

native of Lancaster, N.Y., and a former resident of Buffalo and Syracuse, he had lived in Tampa nine years. He was a graduate of University of Buffalo with a B.S. degree, and received his master's degree in accounting from the Syracuse University. -Mr. Veigel was a retired educator, having operated business schools in Central New York State for: 25 years before coming to Tampa.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church, where he was a choir member and a soloist. He was also a member of the One by One Sunday School Class. Mr. Veigel was a life member of the Erie Lodge 161, Buffelurvivors include his widow, Mrs. Agnes Briggs Veigel; two daughters, Mrs.

Shirley J. Alderson, Waterford, and Mrs. Lois J. Dison, Ft. Bragg, N.C.; a son, William J.

Deaths Elsewhere DR. CHARLES M. POMERAT PASADENA, June 18 -Dr. Charles M. Pomerat, 58, world-famed biologist engaged in cancer research, was found dead Wednesday.

Police said he had given himself a fatal injection to end his own suffering from cancer. Police said he had left a note saying he was suffering from cancer of the spine. Dr. Pomerat had been a director of the Pasadena Foundation for Medical Research since 1960. HENRY BERNER ANTIGO, June 18 (P)- Henry Berner, 86, one of the founders of The Antigo Daily Journal, died Tuesday in Carmichael, Calif.

Berner, with his late brother, Fred, acquired the Journal as a weekly publication in 1901 and changed it to a daily newspaper in 1905. Henry Berner retired in 1945 after serving 52 years as a printer and publisher. DR. W. C.

MRS. TERESA GARCIA Mrs. Teresa Lopez Garcia, 83, 2916 10th a native of Cuba and a resident of Tampa 67 years, died yesterday at her home. She is survived by one son, Frank Correa; one daughter, Mrs. Isabel Thomas; two granddaughters, Mrs.

Isabel Dominguez and Mrs. Yolanda Magueregui, and five great-grandchildren, all of Tampa. HUGH MONTGOMERY Hugh Bishop (H.B.) Montgomery, 63, 6709 Elizabeth died yesterday. Annis, 75, died yesterday in a Tampa hospital. Mr. Annis founded the Gradiaz Annis Cigar Co. in New York in 1917. In 1920, the firm moved its opration to Tampa.

In 1928 Gradiaz-Annis purchased chez Haya the first cigar Annis company to start in operation. Mr. Annis retired from active business in 1958. Last year Gradiaz Annis merged with General Cigar Co. He was a long-time member of the Palma Ceia Country Club and a member of Schaarai Zedek Temple.
