Next to the boating fisherman, bridge and pier anglers comprise most of Florida's fishermen. The most common complaint most of them have is, "all I ever catch is catfish or pinfish." The problem here is two fold.

First of all, most bridge or pier fishing works on a seasonal basis. When a certain type of V. 12-A THE TAMPA TIMES Monday, February 21, 1966 Sunshine Captures Tourney Sunshine Service Station clearly established itself as the region's leading amateur basketball team when the Gamma Rays of sponsor Curtis Williams stormed to a championship victory in the final round of The Tribune Open Basketball Tourney at Trailer Park gym last night. Dana Kirk, admittedly one of the best flat-footed rebounders in amateur cage circles, turned on the steam for the Rays and plunked 41 points against tourney runner-up Johnny's Cleaners of St. Petersburg.

Johnny's couldn't stay up with Sunshine and lost the finale, 122-107. STRANGELY, despite Kirk's fabulous performance, a player for a team that didn't even make the finals was named tourney most valuable player. Dick's Auto Sales shooter Bob, he won the MVP title. The Jet- though Kirk's showing this year! topped that of last season when he win the MVP title. The Jefferson coach's 117 points was the best in the tourney, Ralph Carter canned 27 "points and Billy Turner contributed 24 to help the Sunshine cause.

It's time a little was said about the sand-hill lakes and the fishing that's available in them. sand-hill lakes as I call them can be found along either side of U.S. highway 19 between Tarpon Springs north along the coast to Cedar Key. Inland they run from Ocala south to Brooksville. Generally, the area described above, there are plenty of sand hills and scattered among the hills are lakes and ponds that can produce some top-notch fishing.

Most of the lakes ponds would be a more apt description have very little foliage around the banks. The larger lakes have sawgrass while the smaller ones usually have an abundance of pepper grass growing around the edges of the lake. Almost all of the lakes have one thing common a big, deep hole in the middle of them. Most of the lakes are spring fed, hole (in some lakes there are more than one) is the' spot where many lunker bass are landed. In the smaller lakes the deepest spot can be found almost always Campbell Takes Tucson Laurels 1 i TUCSON, Ariz.

When the action is slow on the game fish, the "rough" fish, which frequent bridges and piers on a year 'round basis become a real problem. The second part of the problem falls into place now. And that is, oyur method of fishing with the game fish action is slow.

If you're using live or dead bait and fishing on the bottom, then you're asking for the bait flinchers. When game fish have moved out of an area the most common cultprets are the pinfish and catfish. There is no way the angler can start the game fish running again but there are steps he can take to avoid catching "rough" fish and at the same time leave himself the opportunity to latch on the a real game fish should one happen by. FIRST OF all, don't use a dead bait. A piece of live shrimp, or a live shrim that has died on the hook is an open invitation to an unwanted fish.

you bait lively and try to stay-off the bottom. Even the fish that are stealing your bait would be a ogod choice of bait. A small butterfish or sardine is quite an invitation to trout while snook and redfish prefer a live, pinfish. TOMORRO'S TIDES High Tide, 2:36 WRESTLING TUESDAY NIGHT score of last year.
