A Philadelphia special to the Tribune says: If the demand for boxes for the Army-Navy football game on Nor. 26 Is any Indication the attendance will be larger than It was at the memorable game of 1901. They were auctioned off yesterday and drew a good sized crowo of football enthusiasts and at times the competition was keen. The first box, after spirited bidding, was knocked down to J. T.

Hoffman for 1225. This remained the record price. While a few of the boxes went as low as $50 nearly all brought from $125 to $135, and about 15 fell into the hands of speculator. The total amount realised was $5700, or about 800 more than last year. lEilS MEETINGS III NEW I NEW YORK, Nov.

The Auburn Northern Electric Railroad Company wants a franchise to build a belt line in Auburn. More Property Being Acquired by the Central and Work- men Are Hustling. With the almost dally purchase of property on the outskirts of Niagara Falls, the New York Central Is going steadily ahead in Its plan to build big yards for the accommodation of Pere Marquette tonnage coming across me border.

It Is no longer a secret that the Central and Marquette are Jointly Interested ln the property. Few, however, have an Idea of the extent of the undertaking. It Is hardly possible that the yards will be finished this falL Notwithstanding the fact that It Is claimed more property remains to be bought, workmen have been laying tracks In. the new yards for more than a week. It was thought the- alliance between the Erie and the Marquette-C, H.

D. system might cause a cessation of the work at the Falls, but It bars not. On the contrary, the force of workmen has been Increased and every day sees the trackage grow. Men familiar with the situation at the Falls say it Is probable the yards when finished will also be used to a greater or less extent by the Michigan Central. Their real purpose, however.

Gould favors a great development of New Orleans as a port and Is working hard to build up the railroad facilities entering it. Mr. Clarke says he speaks advisedly, after consultation with Mr. Gould. He says incidental to the statement that the Goulds have already spent vast sums of monev in New Orleans and it is only the beginning.

NCW OPERATING COMPANY. PITTSBURG. Nov. 8 is sam on excellent authority that Pennsylvania interests have In mind the organisation or a new company to operate certain of the lines west of Pittsburg Probably the new corporation will be known as the Vandalia Railroad Company and the capital mentioned Is $25 000-000. Both the Northwest and the Southwest systems of the Pennsylvania may be operated by the Vandalia company.

RAILROAD NOTES. The Pennsylvania Is handling about 700 cars a day in its classification yards at Ebenezer. Prank Garry has been appointed superintendent of transportation for the Vera Cms Pacific. Carl R. Gray, formerly general manager of the Frisco system, has been elected vice-president.
