He was born in Flint, and came here in 1985 from Farmington Hills, Mich. He retired after 33 years as a product engineer with Kobel Diamond Tool (now Norton Diamond Tool), and locally he worked at Target in Palm Harbor. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

He was Protestant and a member of the American Legion. He was an avid sportsman, including golf, baseball and biking. Survivors include his wife, Diana; three daughters, Betse Smith, Palm Harbor, Jill Carr Eppolito, White Lake, and Lori Shand, Royal Oak, two sons, Gary Raymond Carr, Santa Ana, and Brad William Carr, Flint; and 13 grandchildren. COX, DAVID 83, of Dunedin, died Wednesday (April 18, 2001) at Mease Dunedin Hospital. He was born in Mobile, and came here in 1976 from Columbus, Ohio. He worked for more than 40 years for Ross Laboratories (later purchased by Abbott Laboratories) where he served as president starting in April 1969. He retired in 1983 as corporate vice president of Abbott. He was active in civic programs in Columbus, including the Buckeye Boys Ranch, and served as chairman of the advisory committee of the Columbus Metropolitan Career Center, 21-year trustee and past president of Children's Hospital and Children's Hospital Research Foundation, board chairman of Columbus State Community College, and member of the board of the Central Ohio Red Cross Association, the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce and the United Way.

He was the first chairman of the Board of Infant Formula Council, a member of the Rotary Clubs of Columbus and Dunedin, and a trustee of Mease Dunedin Hospital. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in anti-aircraft artillery with the rank of major. Survivors include his wife, June Headlee; two sons, David O. Madison, Ohio, and Frederick Buckeye Lake, Ohio; a daughter, Carolyn Cox Batcheller, Cleveland Heights, Ohio; a stepson, Marty Headlee, Westerville, Ohio, and a stepdaughter, LaRae Anderson Peters, Clearwater; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and four stepgrandchildren. Tarpon Springs CASTELLI, ROSALIE, 84, of Tarpon Springs, died Monday (April 16, 2001) at St. Mary's Hospital, Tucson, Ariz. She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and came here in 1993 from Staten Island, N.Y. She was a homemaker. She was a member of St.

Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church and the Pineridge Women's Club, both of Palm Harbor. Survivors include a son, Joseph, Tarpon Springs; a daughter, Maryann Guttoso, Tucson; a sister, Grace Lassalando, Boonton, N.J.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. WARD, ELMER, 72, of Safety Harbor, died Sunday (April 15, 2001) at the VA Medical Center at Bay Pines. He was born in Middletown, Ohio, and came here in 1976 from Eaton, Ohio. He was an Army and Air Force veteran of World War II and the Korean War. Seminole MACHEN, FRANK H. 75, of Seminole, died Wednesday (April 18, 2001) at home under the care of Hospice of the Florida Suncoast. He was born in Cheviot, Ohio, and came here in 1989 from West Chester, Ohio. He retired as a wastewater treatment plant operator and was an Army veteran of World War II. He was Protestant.

Survivors include his wife, Marilyn; five sons, Ronald, West Chester, Scott, Lebanon, Ohio, Frankie Seattle, Roger Hutchison, Mason, Ohio, and Duane Hunt, Duluth, two daughters, Joan Korb, West Chester, and Robin Taylor, Lockland, Ohio; two brothers, John, St. Petersburg, and Don, Seminole; and 11 grandchildren.
