LORENZO HOWARD Funeral WASHINGTON, May 27 OP President and Mrs. Eisenhower literally rolled out the carpet today for some 1700 wounded veterans who gathered on the lawn with crutches and wheelchairs for the annual White House garden party. The Eisenhowers stood on an Oriental rug to shake hands with the guests, who ranged from Spanish-American war veterans to youngsters just back from Korea. The rug was spread over the grass because past' receptions have worn a rut in the back lawn. After shaking hands with the President and first lady, the visitors sipped pink fruit punch and talked over old campaigns.

Also in the reception line or mingling with the guests were Mrs. Woodrow Wilson, cabinet members, military chiefs, congressional leaders and other government officials. It was Mrs. Wilson, wife of the World War I president, who started the garden party tradi-tion back in 1919. Apparently St.

Petersburg Woman Killed Near Seffner A 28-year-old St. Petersburg woman was killed instantly yesterday -morning when the car in which she was riding, driven by her husband, overturned on State Rd. 600, just east of the Seffner cutoff.
