Scores of trees were blown over the city, some hitting houses, others blocking traffic. A defense council squad with trucks and cranes kept busy during the night moving trees blocking streets. One clothing store window was shattered, and shirts and other articles' of merchandise scattered in the street. Roofs of some houses were ripped off, inundating rooms and loosening plaster. Only damage to the army fields was to temporary buildings from which tar paper covering was ripped, and the roof was lifted off the bus terminal at Drew field. Shipyards Unscathed Tampa Shipbuilding Co. nierged unscathed from the storm, and workers will return to work as usual at 8 o'clock this morning, the company announced. McCloskey workers also will return this morning.

Schools will continue to be closed today, but will reopen the county school board announced. City hall and the courthouse will reopen today. Refugees from Maritime homes, who were quartered for the night in Plant, Hillsborough and Philip Shore schools, were scheduled to return, home this morning at 1 o'clock In buses provided by the Tampa Housing authority.
