i AUGUSTA, March 28 (TP) Aviation Chief Machinist's Mate Joseph McDonaid of Hamilton, a member of the Naval Air training command team, fired a two over par 72 today to take a one stroke lead in the first annual inter-service invitational golf tournament. The lanky sailor, now stationed at Banana River, carded a par 35 on the first nine and a two over par 37 on the trip home. Close on his heels with a 36-37 73 was Col. James W. Wilson of Bowling Green.

He was 65 years old. Evers had suffer ed a stroke in 1942 and had been poor health since. He was confined Evers much of the time to bed and par tially paralyzed. Eleven months ago the former standout second baseman was elected to baseball's hall of fame at Coopers-town. N.

Tinker is recovering in Orlando. from an operation last January in which his left leg was amputated. He said Evers' death marked the passing of one of baseball's greatest players and that Evers "was a fighter in everything he did." Feuded With Tinker Tinker and Evers didn't speak to each other during several of the 10 years prior to 1913 that they played sde by side in the Chicago Cubs infield but their perfection-like field performances belied their personal feud.

Evers batting average in 14 years of regular play was .279. During his playing career he never weighed more that 130 pounds. For the past 24 years he had operated a sporting goods store in downtown Albany with his brother, Joe. (Maurice Podoloff, president of the American Hockey League, said today that the final playoff round would open at Hershey on Tuesday, April 1, instead of tomorrow night as previously announced. Podoloff said the change was ar ranged today in a telephone conference involving John Harris of the Hershey Club, and John Sollenberger of the Pittsburgh Hornets. The two teams also will meet at Hershey on April 3 under the revised schedule and then move to Pittsburgh for the third and fourth games on April 5 and 8.

If additional games, are needed to determine the best-of -seven winner, the teams will return to the Bear Rink on April 10, move to Pittsburgh for the sixth contest on April 12 and play the seventh and final struggle at Hershey on April 15.
