Weldon Carr, Mrs. Ernie Kincaid and Mrs. E. W. Morgan, Scout leaders, participated in a panel discussion of Scout activities from Brownies through senior scout Room awards were won by the rooms taught by Mrs.

Fred Hicks and Richard Sanders. Mrs. Thelma Kincaid was presented with the attendance prize. Fellowship Night At Pleasant Grove The Pleasant Grove Methodist Church will hold its monthly fellowship night at the church on Thursday, May 28, beginning with a covered dish supper at 6:30. Those who plan to attend are requested to bring their own table service.

Khh Fry For General Baptists The congregation of the General Baptist church at 10th and Perkins will have a fish fry for members, at the church. Thursday evening at 7:30. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Matthews will sing.

Oid Union Unit Eleven members of Old Union Home Bureau Unit attended a meeting held last Thursday evening In the home of Mrs. Jim Gregory on Salem Road, Miss Rachel Warren was co-hostess. Mrs. Dorothy Stewart demonstrated "Putting In A Zipper." During the business session members voted to contribute $5 to the Red Cross emergency fund to aid flood disaster victims. Miss Anna Betty Huck, home adviser, presented the major lesson, "Guiding the Child's Development of Friendship and Leadership." During the social hour members enjoyed a white elephant auction.

Mrs. Harry Simmons wili be hostess for the next meeting. Sprinc Garden Unit Meeting The Spring Garden Home Bureau Unit met at the home of Mm. Anna Kirk in Ina last Wednesday afternoon with Mrs. Golda Lee as hostess.

The major lesson, "Cancer Control in Illinois," was given by Mrs. Ella Duncan, with a general discussion following. Mrs. Golda hSe gave the lesson, "Putting A Zipper In a Skirt or Dress." Refreshments were served at the close of the meeting. Mrs.

Gertie Fitzgerrell will be hostess for the next meeting. Piano Recital Held Sunday Junior high school piano students, pupils of Miss Mabel Pavey, entertained their parents and invited guests Sunday afternoon in the private dining room of the and Cafe with a pro- fram of piano music. Certificates and awards of the recent auditions by the National Guild of Piano Teachers were presented to the pupils. Taking part in the program were La Verba Brown, Janet Judith Coale, Nelda Sue Felton, Judith Hanna, Nancy Hoffman, John Hicks, Ann. Myers, Maiy Sue Schroeder, Carol Tuegel, Barbara Thatcher and Marilyn Wolter.

Van Dorn Unit Mrs. Leo Hamlin and Mrs.Cora Dobbs were guests of the Van Dorn Home Bureau Unit at' the May meeting held last Wednesday afternoon when Mrs. Opal Barnfield was hostess to 14 members of the unit. Mrs. Marguerite Douglas, unit chairman, conducted the business meeting and Miss Anna Betty Huck, county home adviser, presented the lesson, "Guiding the Child's Development of Friendship and Leadership." Four new members, Mrs.

Bess Pigg, Mrs. Ava Clark, Mrs. Roy Plgg and Mrs. Rosemary Hirons, were welcomed into the unit. Members attending held a flow, er exchange and the hostess served refreshments.

Fullertorf in Woodlawn. Guests, included members of the Junior Modern Woodmen Camp No. 17524, their parents and invited guests. Mrs. Chloe Bevis is junior director of the group.

Vernon. After the roast the host showed several comedy films. Final Art Show At Public Library The fnial of the student one man shows presented by the High School Art class is under the direction of Mrs. J. K.

Biagi is now on exhibit on the main floor of the Mt. Vernon Library. Viona Rich, 17 old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry A.

Rich of the Ashley Road, is showing several water colors, and pencil sketches. Viona's hobby has been pencil sketching, especially of people and several of the portrait sketches are modelled by hier brother Don, age 8. Her favorite of the exhibit however is one of her cousin, Russel Miss Rich received third rat- in.g in the Poppy Poster Contest, sponsored by the American LeRion Auxiliary. She had several selections entered in the scholastic art award contest held in Decatur, by the Linn Scruggs Department Store the past winter. Miss Rich has studied art for the past two years, and attended Monticello Art Camp last summer, sponsored by the Federated Women's' Club.

A demonstration of shrinking cloth was given by Mary Beadle and Alice Bates discussed rearranging furniture. Sharon Dlel demonstrated "How to Straighten Cloth" and also gave a talk on "Three Kinds of Quick Breads." Nelda Willoughby and Linda Meadows gave a special number.

The next meeting will be held on June 2 at the home of Christine Draege. A group of ten persons met May 20 and the Horse Farmers 4-H Club. Officers for this newly organized club are: chairman, Richard vice chairman, Eldon Minor; secretary treasurer, Charles Knauss; reporter, Billy Bigley; program committee, Mike Fazekas, Ted Kerker and Donald Donoho. The following talks were made: Judy Simmons, "The Life of Joshua Betty Beal, "Three Types of Outdoor Linda Green, "Meal Planning and Picnic Elizabetit Parker, "Three Types of Batters."
