Junior College Friday night in a regular season game at the Jasper High School gym. The game will start at 8 p.m. A special preliminary will be held prior to the game featuring the sixth grade basketball teams in the Jasper grade program.

Tickets for the game are priced at 75 cents for students and $1.50 for adults. They may be purchased from any member of the Jasper High School J-Club or at the JHS atliletic office. Vincennes University, who went undefeated (33-0) last year enroute to the national championship, has seen its long win streak stopped this year, but have still be rated on top or near the top in the junior college ratings. Vincennes University operates a sister campus in Jasper (The Vincennes University Jasper Center) and the playing of a home game at the Jasper gym has been discussed for the last two years. It marks the first time a V.

U. team has played at Jasper, but there have been college games played at Jasper in past years. Most recently Jerry St. Benedict College Barons played a number of games at Jasper while the school was operating at Ferdinand. In the St.

Joe College played Evansville at Jasper when a number of former Jasper athletes were involved in the game. The Friday night game is being sponsored by the J-Club at Jasper High School. AIC Girls Notch 1st Basketball Victory After an initial loss to Vincennes Rivet on December 12, the Academy of the Immaculate Conception (AIC) at Ferdinand took advantage of their first home contest on January 10 as they handily defeated the varsity squad from Shoals by the score of 41 to 22. The exceptionally slow pace of the first half (halftime score: 17 to 12) resulted from the zone defense. The Academy would execute quickly in their fast-break offense and then fall back into a conservative zone.

Shoals was consequently forced to move the ball outside until a guard or forward would have to shoot from outside to avoid the 30 second violation. (In basketball, a team has 30 seconds from the time it inbounds the ball until it similar to the 24 second regulation in professional basketball.) The in the second half as the Academy liberalized their zone, forcing several turnovers on the part of Shoals, and thereby giving the Academy additional opportunities to score. Shoals will get their chance to even up the series between the two schools on February 7, when the Academy team travels to Shoals for a return game. In the meantime, the Academy will be busily preparing for back-to-back contests with Vincennes Lincoln on January 24 and 31. The first game will be at home (St.

in Huntingburg) and the second in Vincennes. After Shoals, the Academy will close out its season in a game with Washington High School at Washington on February 13. In September of 1972 the AIC was accepted into the Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) as an associate member of the division. Since this past fall, the Academy has participated in interscholastic competition in tennis, volleyball, is currently participating in basketball, and this spring will participate in track. Mrs.

Jorene Brewer is Academy athletic director and will coach track in the spring. Sister Judy Yunker is tennis coach, Sister Mary Austin, volleyball coach, and Mr. Tom Bashwiner and Sister Jane Ann are the basketball coaches. Kings Toy With Hapless The Kansas City-Omaha Kings got their chance to toy with the Philadelphia 76ers Monday night and like the rest of the Basketball Association, they had a ball.
