Page 2 The Dubois County DAILY HERALD, Jasper, Ind. BIG Sternberg of Hasenour and Sternberg, stands by an arched sewer pipe which was used to replace the wooden bridge on Hopf Avenue near the Jasper City League Softball Field. Court News Two men who pleaded guilty in Justice of the Peace Charles court in Jasper during the past week to charges of drunken driving were fined $25 and costs each with the recommendation that they be allowed to drive only as required in their employment for the next year. They were John D. Viers, 35, of R. 4, McLeansboro, 111., and Robert Michaels, 38, of 2707 Old Hartford Road, Owensboro, Ky. Viers was also fined $1 and costs for driving in the wrong lane.

Another man arrested for drunken driving pleaded not guilty to the charge and posted bond. He is Louis F. Theile, 64, of 1607 Newton Jasper. Two persons involved in personal injury accidents were fined $5 and costs. They were William H.

Wine- inger, 74, R. 2, Dubois, into and against the property of another; and Daniel J. Schroeder, 17, R. 1, Celestine, driving heedless of probable injury to others. Fined $5 and costs after being involved in property damage mishaps were Darlene E.

Kieffner, 24, of R. 5, Jasper, driving on left side of road Steven J. Flamion, 19, of 1432V2 Vine Jasper, driving into and against the property of another and Howard H. Lottes, 62, Dubois, failure to yield right of way. Exceeding the authorized axle weight brought a fine of $18 and costs for David A.

Jones, 28, St. Meinrad. Gerald R. The board accepted the proposal that the Holland gym be transferred to the town of Holland for recreational purposes or for any other civil town purposes. The board accepted a proposal that stated the city of Huntingburg would enter into a long-term lease to use the gym as a Youth Recreation Center. The school corporation will use the the building on a limited basis for instrumental music and chorus practices and other large group lectures during school hours only.

The board also directed Schneider to draw up a resolution on the St. Henry School. In other action taken in Monday meeting, the board unanimously agreed to approve the acceptance of the Title I funds. This is an additional allocation and is to be used in summer teaching programs. The board accepted the quotation for LP gas from Wilder and Son at $.1707 per gallon.

The new Special Education law that provides reimbursement for those students who are 6 to 18 years old was also discussed. The board signed a GED certificate for Hugh Carlisle Jr. and approved the signing of the IHSAA form. Schnute informed the board that the final payment on Maple Park Elementary School would be made in June. Schnute reported that the superintendents in the county had met to discuss the third-year driver education project.

The third year requires money to be spent on a driving range. The Southwest School corporation is getting a price on blacktopping for the lot by the big gym for this range. This would be paid for by the federal government.
