(Monitor Staff Photo) Crop Kick off Meeting August 28 i All meetings for the organization of this year's CROP Drive will be held at the First Lutheran Church in Clarion, the Rev. Richard Larson, pastor. The first of these meetings will be the "Kick-Off Meeting," to be held at M. on August 28. Mr.

Hubert Iliem-stra, county chairman, will preside and Mr. Wesley Albin, State CROP worker, will present the program. Packets, promotional materials, etc. will be distributed to those who have agreed to work in this year's drive, so it is hoped persons will make a special effort to attend. The need for food is ttrcat inourworld- Norwegian Girl's Choir To Sing at Goldfield The Hauge Lutheran Church of Goldfield, A.

E. Wlndahl Pastor, will be host to the Ganddal Girls' Choir from Ganddal, Norway, August 24 at 8:00 P. M. There are 26 girls in the choir. In addition there are four men; Audun va-gle, director; Aage Nevland, Manager; Mons Leidvin Takle, Pianist; and Willmore Gunderson, speaker.

Mr. Gunderson is a native American, but has spent the last five years in Norway. He will speak in English. The director Audun Vagle has four choirs in the Ganddal-Sandnes area with a total membership of 350 singers. Of these he has selected the best 26 for the American tour.

In choir singing contests, sponsored by the Norwegian radio, the Ganddal Girl's Choir tied for first place recently, Is reponsible for broadcasts in Norwegian, Hungarian and Russian. The pro gram is aired over the huge radio station built by Hitler at Monte Carlo for the HEART MEMORIAL i A gift has teen given to the Iowa Heart Memorial Fund In memory of Sheldon Dahlgren. Thla gift was made possible by moneys given by relatives and friends at the time of his recent death. This money will be used for research and study of Mean and Cardiovascular Disease ln Iowa. Vernon High School. Mrs. Ringgcnberg is the former Lana Stavnheim of clarion. CLARION ACCIDENT SLIGHTLY HURTS TWO A two-car headon accident one mile northeast of clarion at 10 p. m.

last Wednesday slightly injured two and badly damaged the two automobiles involved, according to Wright County Sheriff Robert Blocker. A car registered to Richard Reyna, 24, Clarion, was parked on a gravel road with its lights out. A car driven by Mitchell Roberts, 16, also of Clarion, was headed west on the same road, also with the lights out, and hit the Reyna car head-on. Authorities said the headlights had probably burned out. After the impact, Roberts lost control of the car, and it went into the ditch.

Wright county Monitor, clarion. loi 93 Present for Ten Year Reunion The class of 1958 held its tenth year class reunion at the Clarion Recreation Park on August 11, 1968 with a picnic dinner. There were 93 present with thirty of this number being class members. After dinner each class member introduced himself, his spouse and family and gave a brief resume of his life since high school days.

Correspondence from members unable to attend were read by Doug Jackson after which he conducted a brief business meet ing. Plans were made and committee appointed for the next reunion to be held in five years. Those appointed on the committee were: Judy Rumley, Kay Steig, Bonnie Olson, Mary Robinson, Sena Dal-lager, Marjorie Stofferan, Jim Weld and Doug Morford, A program followed at which time the class prophecy was read by Richard Pletcher. Prizes were given to the following: One who traveled the farthest distance: Genevieve Hoesel, a toy car. Most children: Kay Steig, a pair of ear plugs.

David Wil- i ana family ot Clarion. Services Held for Former Teacher Euneral services for Patterson were held Tuesday, August 20, 1968 at the Eyler Euneral Home in Clarion. Rev. Calvin Milan officiated. Mrs.

Calvin Milan played the organ and accompanied the soloist Mrs. David Mechem. Casket bearers were Glenn Patterson, Steve Patterson, Craig Patterson, Garry Patterson, Ronald Green, and Donald Green. Euneral arrangements were In charge of Eyler's Euneral Home. Interment was in the Gait cemetery in Gait.

John Edgar Patterson, son of David G. and Lucy E. Patterson, was born in Wright county, Iowa, May 8th, 1883 and passed away at his home in Adel, August 18, 1968. He was united in marriage to Effie Pearl Benson, August 10, 1910. Mr.

Patterson attended Ellsworth College in Iowa halls and Iowa State Teachers of the Alexander, Meservey and Gait schools. and Mrs. Holmes raised their family in the Clarion and Eagle Grove vicinity until they went to Rockwell to farm. They retired several years ago in Nashua. Seminary Student Finishes Assignment Orville Sautcr, a student from United Theological Seminary in New Brighton, Minnesota, conducted the services at the Congregational Church on August 19. It was his last Sunday to be with the church, as his 11 week summer assignment was completed that day.

Mr. Sautcr has spent the summer working with the minister of the church, the Rev. Orlan Mitchell, in every phase of the pastoral ministry. Thepurposeof the program is to give students for the ministry an opportunity to experience working in a local church. Mr.

Sauter has, according to the members of the church, done an outstanding iob. He has related well wifh John kdgar of this community and it is with mixed emotions that they see him leave. Graduate from School of Nursing ELIZABETH DUITSCHER Miss Elizabeth Jane Duitscher, daugh ter of Mrs. Wendell H. Duitscher, and Miss Katherine Joanne Tourtelotte, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Tourtelotte of Clarion, received their diplomas and graduate pins from the St.

Luke's School of Nursing, Cedar Rapids, at the annual Commencement of the School on Friday, August 16, at St. Paul's Methodist Church. Both have completed the three-year courses leading to their diplomas as professional nurses, and they will shortly take the stste examinations to become Registered Nurses The 59 members of the class of 1968 bring to 1583 the number of graduates of the St. Luke's School since Its founding in 1890. This School Is the oldest school of nursing in Iowa, having been founded only six years after the Hospital itself.
