CURTIS: I read with interest your letter from the woman who lost her desire for sex a few months after she had begun using an IUD (intra-uterine contraceptive device). I also had an IUD inserted last year, and after about six months my relationship with my husband became a nightmare.

Not only did I lose all desire for sex, but whenever my husband even touched me I became so upset I felt like screaming. Finally I talked the problem over with my mother, and she promptly asked whether I was using an IUD or not. She then told me about a friend of hers who had experienced the very same difficulty and said that once the IUD was removed everything returned to normal. TO BE TRUTHFUL, I was awfully skeptical.
