It's a jniquc discovery called Fixooent Anderson gizing," said Fred Cramer of the U.S. chess federation. But Fischer's lawyer, Paul Marshall, and his second, Father William Lombardy, were more optimistic. "We are hopeful we will bo able to solve our differences with tho Russians," said Marshall after a Vk hour session with Spassky's advisers last night. Marshall said he and Father Lombardy, a burly Catholic priest and international chess grand master, will sit down again with the Russians today to try to solve the problems.

"We are making progress," Father Lombardy said. None of the Americans wanted to say just what the differences are beyond confirming that Spassky and the Soviet chess federation delivered two stifly worded protests to the international chess federation (FIDE) yesterday. However other informed chess sources said the documents demanded that FIDE punish Fischer for his failure to turn up for the first scheduled game Sunday. They also included a demand for a personal apology from Fischer. REYKJAVIK, Iceland (UPI) The future of the world chess championship once more is in dougt, this time because Soviet titlchold-er Boris Spassky wants American challenger Bobby Fischer punished for his behavior.

If a solution is worked out, the 24-game match could start tomorrow. But with the championship leaping from one crisis to another, officials were hesitant to make any predictions. The championship was scheduled to start Sunday, but Fischer, a 29-year-old chess genius from Brooklyn, failed to turn up, mostly because he wanted more money than the $125,000 purse put up by the organizers. All appeared saved when a British millionaire banker and chess fan dug into his own pocket to offer another $125,000. Fischer was on the next plane to Reykjavik, arrived yesterday morning, and quickly left the airport not to be seen since.

HOUSTON- Tex. Doctors at Methodist Hospital have advised Kentucky Gov. Wendell Ford that he will be discharged tomorrow. An aide to the governor said Ford will leave Houston the same day to fly to Fort Lauderdale, to join the Kentucky delegation to the Democratic National Convention. Fischer sends second second, while Spassky was there in person.

The world champion, 35, apparently decided he had had enough of Fischer's antics and issued a statement that said: "Fischer broke the rules of holding the contest by refusing to come for the ceremony of opening the match. By this, Fischer insulted me, personally, and the chess federation of Spassky insulted the U.S.S.R., which I represent." He added that since Fischer had broken the rules he "must bear the just punishment before there is a hope of holding the match. Only after this can I return to the question about the possibility of holding the match." He also demanded a personal apology.
