Page 2 The Dubois County DAILY HERALD, Jasper, Ind. Saturday, February 22, 1975 Death Takes Former Birdseye Resident Mrs. Emma Wright, 61, of 5225 LeGrande Indianapolis, a former resident of Birdseye, died at 11:30 a.m. Friday in Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. She was bom on Jan.

16, 1914, the daughter of George and Margaret (Begley) Bayer. She was the widow of Cecil Wright. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Ardella Gregory, Mrs. Shirley Gregory, Mrs.

Judy Yates and Mrs. Ludy Allen, all of Indianapolis; three sons, Lloyd and Cecil of Indianapolis and Jerry of Fort Lauderdale, three sisters. Miss Rose Bayer, Mrs. Mildred Milbourn and Mrs. Ida Gunselman, all of Birdseye; three brothers, William and Jacob Bayer of Birdseye and Bryan Bayer of Indianapolis; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Friends may call after 7 p.m. today at the Conkle Funeral Home on West Sixteenth Indianapolis. On Monday morning the body will be brought to the Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg, where friends may call after 4 p.m. Monday. The services will be held at 1 p.m.

Tuesday in the First Pentecostal Church in Birdseye with the Rev. David Bayer officiating. Burial will be in Birdseye Cemetery. Two Trains Sideswipe; 23 Persons Injured WOODBRIDGE, Va. (UPI) A southbound freight train swayed and sideswiped a Florida-to-New York passenger train Friday, causing seven cars of the Amtrak Star" to derail.

Twenty-three persons on the passenger train were hurt. Most of the injured were not hurt seriously. Two of them remained hospitalized today. The wreck knocked seven cars of the 110-car freight train off the tracks and derailed seven cars and both locomotives of the passenger train. There were 442 passengers aboard the 18-car Amtrak train en route from Flordia and scheduled to arrive in New York at 6:15 p.m.

after a stop in Washington. PHNOM PENH (UPI) Cambodians rioted in the streets of two provincial capitals to protest the high price of rice, reports reaching Phnom Penh said today. Travelers from Battambang, 150 miles northwest of the capital, and Kompong Som, 120 miles to the southwest, said thousands of young people burned shops and warehouses of Chinese merchants Thursday and Friday. The reports confirmed the anxiety of government authorities in Phnom Penh, who said they feared civil disorder as Communist control increased in the countryside and stocks of food and consumer goods fell and prices rose. Chinese merchants control most of the rice supply and operate hundreds of shops and stores in cities throughout Cambodia.

Reports from the two provincial capitals were sketchy, but travelers said it appeared riots were begun and led by high school students in both towns. They said warehouses, shops and stores were sacked and the buildings were burned. No casualties were reported. Carl Radke, 73, of 910 Justin Jasper, died at 1 a.m. today in Memorial Hospital to which he was admitted last Tuesday for treatment of a kidney disorder.

Mr. Radke was a retired farmer. In his earlier years he played the bass fiddle in several local bands. He was born on Nov. 2, 1901, in Madison Township to William P.

Radke and Alice Stewart Radke. On April 29, 1924, he was married to Lena Fleck, who preceded him in death on July 31, 1964. On Feb. 15, 1969, he was married to Mrs. Rose Hasenour, who survives.

Also surviving are four brothers, Earl of Salem, John of Ireland, William of Huntingburg and Otto; and two sisters, Mrs. Norbert Heitz of Huntingburg and Mrs. Bessie Hodges of Alexandria, Va. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Albert and Fred, and a sister, Mrs. Coletta Phillips.

Mr. Radke was a member of Holy Family Church, the Holy Name Society, the Jasper Moose High Winds Blamed For 13-Car Crash Winds slammed through the southwestern desert early today, causing a fiery 13-car collision and shutting down major highways. TVo persons were killed and 11 others injured in the crash on Interstate 10 east of Quartzsite, Ariz. Police said four cars burst into flames. Wind and blowing dust kept rescue helicopters from reaching the accident scene.

The chilly northerly winds, in excess of 60 miles an hour, kicked up dirt and sand that dropped visibilities to zero in Arizona and California. Interstate 10 and Arizona 95 in and out of California were closed. MAde for MeMORies. Frank Strange Dies Funeral services for Frank C. Strange, 65, of Loogootee, who had served lor the past eight years as Martin County clerk, will be held at 11 a.m.

Monday in St. Joseph Catholic Church at Bramble. Burial will be in St. Cemetery at Loogootee. Friends may call after noon Sunday at the Titzer Funeral Home in Loogootee.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Mr. Strange died at 10:25 a.m. Thursday in Memorial Hospital in Jasper. He retired in 1966 after 30 years of service with the U.S.

Post Office and later spent two years as an employe of the Indiana Sales Tax Division before becoming clerk of the Martin County Circuit Court. Mr. Strange was a World War II Navy Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Anastasia Strange of Loogootee; three sons, John, Edward and Thomas; two daughters, Mrs. Richard Flynn, Mrs.
