Statesville Record Landmark Monday, January 22, 1973 8-B Shootings Reported CHEROKEE, N.C. (AP)-A Cherokee man has been charged with murder in the weekend slaying of his wife and the serious wounding of a teenaged girl in a shooting spree on the Qualla Indian Reservation, the Federal Bureau of Investigation said. FBI Special Agent Ralph Rampton, in charge of the Charlotte office, said Henry Queen, 38, of the Big Cone section of Swain County, also was charged with crime on a government reservation. Rampton said Queen also was injured in the early morning shooting Saturday. FBI agent said a federal warrant charging Queen with the slaying of his wife, Mrs.

Stacy Sequoyah Queen, 32, was issued in Bryson City. Mrs. Queen's 19-year-old niece, Rosilee Driver, also was wounded in the shooting incident, Rampton said. She was hospitalized in Waynesville. Rampton said Queen had not been charged in the shooting of Miss Driver pending further investigation.

Queen, also wounded in the incident, was listed in satisfactory condition at a Waynesville hospital, Rampton said. Police said Queen walked into the home of Spencer Driver, the wounded girl's father, about 12:15 a.m. Saturday, shot his wife in the back with a revolver and then turned and shot Miss Driver. Queen then walked onto the front porch of the home and shot himself in the chest, according to the police report of the incident. Court records showed Queen was on parole from federal prison where he had served part of a life sentence for the murder of a Cherokee man.
