New owners change call letters on NTV stations KEARNEY, Neb. (AP)-The new owners of the four NTV Network stations have announced immediate changes in the call letters of the four television properties. KHOL TV, channel 13, licensed in 1953 to Kearnev-Holdrege, has become KHGI TV. The initials are those of Kearney, Hastings and Grand Island, the three major areas served by the station. KHPL TV, channel 6.

Hayes Center, has become KWNB TV. The call letters represent Western Nebraska Television, defining the large area served by the station. KHTL TV, channel 4, Superior, has become KSNB TV. The call letters represent the Kansas-Nebraska area served by the station. KHQL TV, channel 8, Albion- Columbus-Norfolk, has become KCNA TV, with the call letters representing those three cities.

NTV Executive Vice President and General Manager James Johnson said the network plans complete renovation of the NTV studios, the purchase of new equipment and the addition of new employes in the near future. Johnson also announced the appointment of Linda Johnson as community relations director for the network. She formerly served as a secretary for the stations. Nixon spends evening on Potomac WASHINGTON (AP) President Nixon has spent another evening on the Potomac aboard the presidential yacht Sequoia.

Nixon dined aboard the vessel Tuesday with White House Chief of Staff Alexander M. Haig Secretary of State Henry A. Kissinger and a Kissinger aide, Brig. Gen. Brent Sconcroft.

Public Service Commissioner Duane Gay said Tuesday he favors random, unannounced inspections of the 51 telephone companies to assess the quality of service. Gay said such an approach would be more effective in spotting trouble areas than a proposal pending before the commission requiring the telephone conmpanies to make annual performance reports on service. He said the advantage of the inspection approach is that the commission would be relying on data gathered by its own staff instead of information pro- vided by the firms when it considers changes in rates and service. The commission already has taken steps in this direction, he said, by ordering a $5,000 piece of equipment which can analyze a performance.

Meanwhile, the Nebraska Telephone Association has written the PSC expressing opposition to the proposal requiring each company to document the quality of its service. Edwin J. Grand jury will get evidence of alleged hoax HALLANDALE, Fla. (AP) A federal grand jury will soon get evidence in connection with an alleged extortion hoax in the. case of a banker who claimed he was kidnaped and held for ransom, police say.

James Longo, Hallandale chief of police, said Tuesday the FBI had told him that the case of Albert Dantzler, 43. would be presented to a grand jury in Fort Lauderdale this week or next. direction of the evidence points to extortion and the criminal filing of a false report to the Longo said. On April 19, Dantzler telephoned associates at the City National Bank of Hallandale, north of Miami, saying he was being held for $60,000 ransom. He gave directions for delivering the money and was not heard from until the next day, when he showed up in nearby Fort Lauderdale.

He told police there that he eluded his abductors by jumping into the Atlantic Ocean from a small boat and swimming to shore. The ransom was never paid. Several days later, sources told The Associated Press that Dantzler was being investigated in a possible extortion hoax.
