SUNCOAST DEATHS PUTNAM, ELMER, 83, of Clearwater, died Wednesday (Sept. 24, 1997) at Morton Plant Hospital, Clearwater. He was born in East Orange, N.J., and came here in 1979 from Whitefield, N.H. He was a member of Heritage United Methodist Church at Countryside, Clearwater, and the Dunedin Fine Art Center.

He was a past president of the Massachusetts Sons of the Spanish-American War Veterans and a national president of the organization. Lovett, Seminole. Hafey Springfield Chapels, Springfield. ed for the Oldsmar Cup Award. The award was created by Mayor Jerry Beverland and the first was given last year to City Council member Ed Manny. Beverland said the big difference between the Citizen of the Year and the Oldsmar Cup is that the Oldsmar Cup winner doesn't have to be a resident of the city.

Williams, 51, owns a State Farm Insurance agency in Oldsmar and lives in Countryside. Beverland praised Williams' in center, band room and auditorium will be fixed up, along with classrooms. "It would have hurt if we couldn't go forward," Gombos said. "All of this is designed to complement the school's curriculum. We want our facility to match where we want to be in our curriculum." Petersburg is due for of construction to add a new cafeteria and renovate classroom wings. Bay Point Middle and Bay Point Elementary in St. Petersburg have been waiting more than five years for changes to help accommodate the math and science magnet programs there. The middle school is scheduled for $12-million in renovation. The elementary school is scheduled for Jeanna Orphanidys has two reasons to celebrate news of the waiver.

He came here in 1993 from his native Atlanta where he worked as a warehouse superintendent for Zep Manufacturing Co. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was Baptist. Largo SCHWAN, PAUL 58, of Largo, died Wednesday (Sept. 24, 1997) at home. He was born in Buffalo, N.Y., and came here in 1982 from Arlington, Va. He was a cabinetmaker and Catholic. Survivors include his wife, Melody; a son, Keith, Hudson; four daughters, Lori Rose and Shari Schwan, both of St.

Petersburg, Gail Kelley, Kenneth City, and Debby Finley, St. Petersburg; a sister, Janet Leacock, Pinellas Park; and seven grandchildren. "I think it is one of the neatest towns anyone could live in. They try really hard to entertain citizens and make them feel like they are part of a small community." The contract with the architect for the Bay Point Middle projects was signed this week, he said.

Now, those architects can start work. "If they've given us all seven, that's excellent," Rivas said. The district already has the money set aside for the projects, which includes $ll-million for renovations at Tarpon Springs High. "I'm really, really glad about that," said Emmanuel Gombos, assistant principal at Tarpon Springs. "We had an architect who couldn't finish the work until we heard something." Almost every building on campus will have changes made to the heating and air-conditioning system, he said.

Born in Charlotte County, Va she came here in 1959 from Georgetown, where she was a schoolteacher and taught third grade at Garth School. YOUNG, GLADYS 88, of Clearwater, died Thursday (Sept. 25, 1997) at Spanish Gardens Nursing and Convalescent Center, Dunedin. She came here in 1946 from her native Hempstead, N.Y. She was a beautician and owned several area beauty salons. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Clearwater.

He was a member of First Baptist Church of Charlotte and attended First Baptist Church of Indian Rocks, and was a member of Phalanx Masonic Lodge 31, Scottish Rite of Free Masonry and Oasis Shrine Temple, all of Charlotte. 5 Times Staff Writer PALM HARBOR The Palm Harbor Junior Woman's Club is wrapping up plans for the first Taste of Palm Harbor on Oct. 5. So far, 30 area restaurants have signed up to offer samples of their food at booths along Florida Avenue in old downtown Palm Harbor. Live entertainment will include a country and western band, a jazz band and a disc jockey playing music throughout the afternoon.
