CLEVELAND. Aug. 25. The closing day of the Grand Circuit meeting at North Randall today furnished one of the biggest surprises of the meeting when Billy Durfee placed Es-peranza, a rank outsider, first in the summary in the 2:06 trot, winning the third and fourth heats after Joan, the favorite, had taken the opening mile and Director Todd the second. In the other events the favorite had fairly easy going.

The pacing division of the champion stallion stakes proved easy for Peter Locke.
