ft1 CRUSHER. Sr. Gebb art's Statement About Dr. and tie Br idee. ill the Details of the Deep Scheme To Plunder the Stock- holders.

Fr the Proposition Seeareiy Fastened Ob the Xoiob President. Conversation That Passed, and the Document That Waa Prepared. BOMB SPICY HEADING. A nrt bird is Dr. Breyfogle.

At fiat he denied he had ever made any proposition to Mr. Gebhart eoaorrn-ln- the K. and I. bridge. Turn, Badlng that Gebhart had been to reporter, he changed front and insisted that what had been said was in KSC.

To-dy Mr. Gethart comes forward with i rtatemect, prepared by himself, that i crusher to far aa lireyfogl and hia biiity or rather inability to tell the truth are Concerned. The full facta in the eaee are made known; the man who planned the rob bery scheme and prepared the contract is expired. His same is iseyfogle. Htre ia Mr.

Gebhart' statement It ia mlhw interesting reading: lo tin Public: Owing to the publications which have appeared in the Louisville papers the last few dart, and coming as they did from aome of the directors of the E. and Bridge Com pany, on the one side, and from Dr. Jireyfocle on the other, besides the fact that the interview published by the New Albany Ledger waa incomplete eon- cercing tbe matter in question, I feel Impelled to nuke a more full and clear statement of th facts relating to the interview in Question, between Dr. Breyfogle and myself, concerning the K. and I.

Bntije Company affairs. The interview waa sought by myself and waa be Id at Dr. Breyfoglsfs house, with a view of ascertaining whether the pending litigation could he' settled and future ecnilicta avoided. The general uatare of whieh wtt set forth sub. stantiallv in tbe 'interview published by the New Albany Ledger, and is correct far as it goes; bat was published before 1 saw Dr.

lirey fogies statement, 1 which erieet declares that be bad held no conversation with me on the sab'eet. Cooaoiarntly I deem it proper to add the following additional fact to these given in the Ledger interview, end which were omitted either the inadvertence et tbe myself. Pint The proposition to form a syndicate for tbe purchase of the stock and bonds of the si. end I. Bridge Com.

pany emanated from Dr. Breyfogle. and when 1 suggested that the purchase by the syndicate wruld eause the stock to go op, Dr. Creycgle repLed that he could be osed aa a ta boat- ia Vlown e-. Second Dr.

Breyfogle fart he proposed that when the syndicate was forned, and as many as ten of the directors had signed the syndicate paper, he would, meet with them and give satisfactory assurance and guarantee of his power to procure a lease- by the Pennsylvania Company of the K. and bridge, upon such terms as would guarantee the interest on its bonds, and small dividend on the capital stock. Third It was estimated that considering the price at which the stock and were selling, and might be pur-. chased by a syndicate and subsequently securing the lease referred to, that the syndicate eon id probably realise a profit of $500,009, and Dr, Breylogle gtipu-. la ted that of the profit, whatever it might be, ha was to have no-fourth.

Fourth Dr. Breyfogle stated that tbe Pennsylvania Company would not eon-seut to make the lease unless the eon-" tract of the Bridge Company with the O. and XL Railroad Company was act and a new contract on a more equitable basis obtained, and saying that the Pennsylvania Company objected to the lump contract now existing. Dr. Breyfogle stated that a wheelage contract, such as other companies have over the bridge, would be fair and necessary in order to put the O.

and AL on en equal footing with their competitor. 4 part ef the plan, therefore, was that the O. and 31 should be induced, or forced, to quit the K. and I bridge until a new contract could be secured on the wheelage basis. This conversation with Dr.

Breyfogle was held late in the evening, and upon leaving him, be promised to draw and -fend to me oo the next day, a draught of a syndicate agreement for the purchase of bonds and stocks of the K. and I Company According to appointment, 1 called at his ofliee the next morning and received from a clerk in his office type-written eon tract which, reads aa follows aod speaks for Itself: Whereas, the subscriber hereto is Interested in the etnek and bonds of the Kentucky nod Indiana Bridge Company, end believes that tbe current market value of said securities is in great dan ker si eta-eclat1 on from weD-know eeose at present operating directly upoa end Wheieae, he decree to 'take aa Interest a pool of not less than 10.000 hares of the eapiUl stock and 15.000 fc-U embracing the various Issues, tasde by the Kentucky and Indiana Erid- Ccpnny). it ia proposed to form and manag pool as hereinafter stated, for the purpces ef trading in said stock and bond, and for the benefit of tho ft nd -nd all the person.
