Marine Hospital Service Has Notice cf Ninety-Eight Cases. Washington, Sept. 8. The Hospital Service advices report 98 cases of yellow fever to date. The bureau has been notified of the one new case at New Orleans.

QUARANTINE. Montgomery Sept. 9. The State quarantine has been extended against Mississippi City and points west of there on the route to New Orleans. i 1 1 i ROAD PETITION GRANTED.

Atlantic. Valdosta Western Given Terminal Privileges. Tallahassee. Sept. 9.

The Jacksonville station, of the Terminal Company, in which the East Coast Railway, Plant System and (Florida Central Peninsular Railroad are jointly Interested, was "built at great cost for the accommodation of the immense train service, each paying a pro rata share of the cost of maintaining1 it, and all the responsibility for the debt thus incurred. The Atlantic. Valdosta Western Railroad was built to Jacksonville. Application was made for passenger facilities in the terminal station by the Atlantic. Valdosta Western, and compensation tendered.

The application was rejected; and the Atlantic, Valdosta Western Railway petitioned the Railroad Commission for aji order giving it such privileges in the station. The case was heard by the Railroad Commissioners, who visited Jacksonville to view the terminal property, environments, and Commissioners Bryan and (Morgan have recorded an order granting the petition of the Atlantic. Valdosta Western Company at a cost of $4,300 less than the owners annually pay for using their own private property. Chairman Day, of the Railroad Commission, files a dissenting order. The order provides that the Atlantic, Valdosta 'Western shall pay for the privilege each month in advance, the sum of $1,275, and to pay In addition to the company, on a wheelage basis, or according; to car build ers' rules as one- tfr-the- other method method may ibe applicable, Its propor tion of the expenses of said terminal property.

iThe present understanding at the Navy Department Is that (Admiral Sampson will relinquish his command of the North Atlantic squadron on October 3, immediately folio-wing the conclusion of the recep tion of Admiral Dewey. The vacancy in the Boston navy yard caused by the death of Admiral Pick ens will offer one opportunity for a suitable shore command for the admiral if he desires it after he shall have taken a short rest.
