This brought about the organ- xstlon of a union of societies under the aiiro of nlteil Building Associations of Hamilton County. Ohio," which waa effect ed In February of that year.

H. A. Ratter- man waa elected President. An Executive ommlttee waa organised snd the case fought blrterly. with the result In favor of he onganllalli.il.

Since that time the bulld- ng associations nf Hamilton County have not been vexed with the tax question, and he principle that the mortgages held by heae organisations are not a value, but a security for tho performance of membership duties only has been successful through a united effort of the associations and the licloua action of the Executive Commlt- ce. The Flrat in Ohio. In the first annual report prepared bv Mr. Cellariua, iH'puty Inspector of Building and Loan Associations of Ohio, It la slated thut the first uasotiatlon Incorporated In Ohio, as far ss tho records show, was the Delaware Building Association, of Delaware, the nrtlclea of Incorporation being Alex! with the (Secretary of State February 1S07. The Cleveland land and Building ljoan Association, of Cleveland, followed March 1, 1MI7.

Five other associations were organised In Cleveland and Ave In Dayton In the same year. The first association In Hamilton County- was Incorporated August 1. 1H17. under the name of the Cincinnati Herman Building Association No. 1, and waa followed In 1HH.S by Id other Cincinnati organisations During the period from 1KSO to 1800 a great many building associations were Incorporated.

During these years there was a great deal of legislation enacted, which compelled the Hamilton County league of Building Aasoclnllons to reorganise. A great deal of this legislation was inimical to the lnleres's of tho associations, and the league, through Its legislative commit tee, prevented many bad measures from becoming laws. The associations witnessed their greatest srowth during the period from to Won. I'nder the leadership of Fred Bader. who was President of the Hamilton County League, this organisa tion performed valuable services for the building association cause, not alone in Ohio, but throughout all the United States.

Mr. Ehrgott has cast the opera with much care, and he last night produced results that even a pro- feasional cast might have- been pleased to reach.

There are in strong parts in "The Mikado." and so well fortified are-te Ehrgott forces that there was not a weak snot in the cast.
