He has worked the famous Sikeston J.C. Rodeo in Missouri, the Baton Rouge Rodeo, the Calgary Stampede in Canada, the Jasper Lions Club Rodeo, the Fort Worth Rodeo, the Salt Palace Rodeo in Utah, the Biloxi Rodeo and the state fairs in Illinois, Kentucky and Indiana. In 1 974, Rick was chosen by the top 1 5 bullriders to work the famous PRCA National Finals Rodeo, then held in Oklahoma City, known as the World Series of Rodeo. He has also worked the All Indian National Finals four times, the Old Timers National Finals, and the Southeastern Circuit Finals twice. In 1 980, he was chosen by the PRCA as Clown of the Year.

During the same year he was chosen to work the Wrangler World Bullfighting Championship Series. He did this from 1980 through 1983. In 1981 he went to the National Finals Rodeo to compete for the title Wprld Champion Bullfighter. During his career, he has also "Ragin' Cajun" from Tickfaw, Louisiana, was named the 1992 World Champion Barrel Clown "Coors Man-in-the-Can." He is the only clown to work the Dodge National Circuit Finals Rodeo two years in a row, 1991-92. The Coors "Man-in-the-Can" award was initiated in 1 984 and is presented to the PRCA barrelman who scores highest in five different categories of professionalism, as judged by the 12 Wrangler Bullfight Tour participants, pro rodeo announcers and top bullriders.

Young has more than 30 years in the business and says he's becoming the "Agin' Cajun." With enough bruises to last most men a lifetime. Rick has changed from bullfighting to the difficult job of barrel clown. This year he will still fight bulls at about five of his rodeos. He says he's not slowing, but "they are just raising faster bulls these days!" Comedy is his strong point and has kept him in the business longer than any other clown today. He says the new breed is strictly bullfighters who have no desire to do comedy.
