DES MOINES COMMUNITY PLAYHOUSE Finnan's Rainbow Japanese Try Hand at Horror Film At the Orpheum "Gigantis the Fire Monster" is a Japanese attempt to cash in on the horror movie craze.

A huge, fire breathing prehistoric reptile plays the title role. Radioactive fallout, of course, is blamed for arousing him from millions of years of sleep. He ill-naturedly begins a rampage against a a ese cities. The cast is Japanese in this amateurish film, which suffers most of all from the dubbed-in English. It's almost of the primer type, with too much inappropriate slang added.

The acting is confined primarily to facial expressions, in tight close-ups. Technically there's much that is unreal istic. Animation of the monster, however, is at times very good; at other times poor. And of course he resists all weapons of modern war. He's finally done in by an ice avalanche.

The second feature, a rerun, is another Japanese mon Wlrephoto (A.P.) Joe' Prewitt, superintendent on the project, said Thursday a "new plastic material" has been found that will effectively coat three sections of concrete on the pool's bottom on which tar-based weather sealing had been dumped. After the vandalism: was discovered last Friday, Prewitt, of John W.
