The Mother's Day exercises at the Center church Sunday was a success. Miss McCombs of Illinois and Miss Edna Watts sang a solo, which was very beautiful. Mrs. Peter read a paper on "Home Recollections." The sang several selections. Rev.

Wachter gave the memorial address at Deer Creek Tuesday afternoon, although Mr. Wachter was not expecting to give the address and did not know that he was to act in that capacity until after his arrival at the church. He certainly gave a splendid address. Miss Mary Fonts rendered a beautiful solo. J.

McMillen of Logansport. Mrs. Maud Etherington of near Nogo, assisted Mrs. Gray Monday and Tuesday in cleaning house. The Misses Gladys Hubler, Mary Harmonj Helen Beck, Ova Ridge-way and Eva Brown went to Winona Sunday, to attend college for this summer.

Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Mendenhall went last week get things in readiness for the arrival of the girls who are to board with them. Letters have been received by their many friends here and they all say they like it fine and are ha.ving a good time also. Miss Edith Johnston -was bitten on the left limb by a doer one day last week.

They have sent the canine's "head to Indianapolis for examination. Mr. and Mrs Archie Benge, who are attending school at Muncie were at home Friday evening and Saturday. The Wheeling band will play in Young America Saturday rfight, June 3. Everybody come.

A cordial welcome to all. Miss Eva Melliger has been quite poorly the past week. Her many friends hope for her speedy recovery. Mrs. Russell Brant and son Jayson are suffering from the measles and Margaret Freshour has measles also.

Little Miss Helen Lucile Mooney spent the past week with her grandparents. The little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wright who has been quite sick is reported better. William Beatie and family spent Tuesday at Culver, Ind.

Mr. Hoover and wife moved to Lucerne this week. John Conn and wife of Logansport spent Wednesday with the former's -O Walter McFatridge left this mother, Mrs; Wm Burton for Detroit, Mich. He expects to work in the Maxwell Auto factory. The people of the community wish him success in his new occupation.

Walter is one of the fine young men of bur community. The family of Lon Kirkpatricck has returned from Texas to spend the summer in the- home community. Mrs. Tell Spitler is on the sick list the past week. 'The Memorial Day services were held as usual, this year in the Baptist church.

Dr. Burton, who has been quite sick is again on the streets, but very weak. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Sheetz and daughter, Margaret, spent Sunday with Jesse Sheetz and family.
