Sues from Page 1 liams sexually molested both students, on and off school grounds, beginning in January 1988. They suffered psychiatric problems as a result. According to the School Board's lawsuit against National Union, the insurance company then waited until the district was sued and a formal response was due in court before telling the board that it was denying coverage. Williams pleaded guilty in January 1989 to persuading the two students to have sex with him. Charles Davis, the Orlando attorney for one of the students, told school authorities shortly after Williams was sentenced that he would file a suit accusing the board of negligence. Mrs. Morton said that National Union was notified as much as one year ago that there would be a lawsuit against the school district and had opened a file on the case. According to the School Board's lawsuit against National Union, the insurance company then waited until the district was sued and a formal response was due in court before telling the board that it was denying coverage. "If they knew (they would refuse coverage), they should not have accepted the claim," Mrs. Morton said. The board has hired another attorney to represent it in the lawsuits filed by the students' parents. Tvfier?
