CAROLYN HOPKINS HOLLAND, GRACE A. "NANA," 87, of Port Richey, died Thursday (July 26, 1990) at Riverside Hospital, New Port Richey. Born in St. Louis, she came here 11 years ago from Jennings, Mo. She was a retired assistant store manager with Ben Franklin Variety Stores, Jennings.

She was a Catholic and a member of the Embassy Hills Civic Association, Port Richey. Peter Puentes receives honor Kumiko Hashimoto, 18, and Yoko Goto, 19, of Japan are discovering the kindness of Americans on their first visit to the United States. The two high school students are visiting on the Lions International Youth Exchange Plan and will be staying in Port Richey for six weeks with Albert and Marie Colclough.

During their visit, they will have an opportunity to meet other Lions families. Mrs. Colclough said the young women are a joy to have in her home. "They are very polite, just wonderful girls. They read a lot, are very quiet and do homework at night." Mrs.

Colclough said her only concern is that they seem to have such small appetites. "They eat very little by comparison to American teen-agers, and I worry about that," she explained. The visitors have discovered ice cream, which they love. They have ice cream in Japan, but they say American ice cream is better. Pasco Arts Center plans gift shop sale The Pasco Arts Center, 2011 Moog Road, Holiday, is planning an August Sale.

Legion 16th District calls meeting The American Legion 16th District Commander Elmer Wolff has scheduled a first, meeting of the year at 8 p.m. Monday at the Augustus Rusars Post 273 in Madeira Beach. The title is one of the most prestigious honors given by the organization of more than 2-million members. He was a World War II Army veteran and a deacon with the Reorganized Church of Latter-day Saints, Tarpon Springs. He was a member of the Orion Masonic Lodge 56, Frenchtown, N.J., the Valley of Trenton AARS, Trenton, N.J., the Crescent Temple AAONMS, Trenton, and the Hunterdon County Shrine Club, Flemington, N.J. Survivors include his wife, Verna a stepson, Robert Winn Lambertville; a daughter, Virginia Condit, War-renton, two stepdaughters, Bren-da Perkins and Gwendolyn Butler, both of Orange Park; two sisters, Annie Caggiano, Trevose, and May Neil, Bensalem, and eight grandchildren. In Japan, they say, a watermelon would cost $50. Other American foods they enjoy are hamburgers, pizza, chicken, fish and cheese macaroni. Goto never has been away from home before and has been homesick. Hashimoto has traveled to the Philippines. Hashimoto is in her last year at Kagoshima Womens High School, where she is studying home economics.

She will go on to a university and hopes to become a nurse. Goto is enrolled in a high school attended by both boys and girls and plans to go into business. The visitors have been guests of the Spring Hill Lions Club and will attend the Lions Governor's Homecoming Dinner sponsored by the Cotee River Lions Club at the Spartan Manor in New Port Richey. They have visited Disney World and Epcot and the Tarpon Springs Sponge Docks and played games at the Jasmine Lakes Community Club in Port Richey. They will visit Sea World and Weeki Wachee Springs along with the other 15 exchange students in the area.

This is the second summer the Colcloughs have participated in the Lions exchange program. Mrs. Colclough said that the students are screened carefully by their Lions Club sponsors. The host Lion families are responsible only for their welfare, room and board. "You get back much more than you give," Mrs.

Colclough said. "They are wonderful young people." VF and Auxiliary sponsor dinner The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8681 of Shady Hills and the Auxiliary are sponsoring a chop suey dinner from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the post, 18940 Drayton St. and County Line Road, Spring Hill.
