The procession formed at Capital Hotel at 8 o'clock in the following order: Platoon of Police. Frankfort Cornet Band. Grand Captain General VV. H. Sandifer.

Grand Marshal of the Day Col. J. Stoddard Johnston, and Sir Thos. H. Stierley and Sir Jas.

P. Murray. Assistant Marshals. Corps of K. M.

as escort to the Grand Com- mandery. Frankfort Commandery, No. 4. Castleman Artillery of Lexington, commanded by Capt. Jack Veach.

Visiting Coniiuandenes in order of seniority. Grand ommander Sir Bernard J. Witt and (staff, and Sir and Governor Knott, and Sir and Auditor Fayette Hewitt in carriages. The line of the procession was six squares iu length, solid column, four abreast, and presented one of the most beautiful sights, with the handsome uniforms on the finest body of men in the State, that was ever witnessed in Frankfort. It is said by the members tnemselves that the street parade was the grandest review the order has had for more than fifteen years past.

At the bail of the House of Representatives, where the march terminated, Sir and Gov. J. Proctor Knott delivered the following address of welcome gov. knott's address of welcome. 'Right Eminent Grand Commander and Sir Knights of the Grand Coii-vasdeuy of Kentucky Ou behalf of Frankfort Commandery, No.

4, in the name of the people of your Capital city and as the Chief Magistrate of this Commonwealth, it is my pleasant privilege to extend to you a cordial welcome to the seat of government TV bile teudering to you the grateful thanks of this community for the honor of your present visit and the pleasure to be anticipated trom your sojourn in their midst, and the thanks of Frankfort Commandery for the enviable distinction you have conferred upon them in selecting this as the place for the conclave about to be holdeo, I feel constrained to congratulate you upon the felicity of your choice. In a Commonwealth like our own, where every citizen worthy of the name derives bis highest pleasure from the practice of those social virtues which lend the brightest charms to human existence, it might be considered invidious if, indeed, it were possible to claim for those of any particular locality a prominence over all others in that respect, but as a sojourner in their midst, who has been with them long enough to learn to know and appreciate them, I feel free to say for the people of Frankfort, who to-day greet yon with a heart's warm welcome, what, perhaps, modesty might forbid their saying for themselves, that in the constant, earnest, unselfish exercise of all those' commendable characteristics which distinguish the genuine Kentuckian everywhere, they are second to no community in the Commonwealth or upon the globe. Hospitable to prodigality, they areas intelligent as hospitable: generous as aste winds, they are as cultured as they are generous fully prepared to appreciate the sublime purposes of our organization, and to accept the profession of genuine Knighthood as the passport to their hearts and hearthstones. They understand that the objects of our order are still the relief of the oppressed, the protection of the weak, the practice of private virtue, the promotion of public morals, the defense of tbe Christian faith, the elevation of the human family and the advancement of tbe general happiness of mankind; that, adapted to tbe altered circumstances of humanity, it is aa essential to the civilization of the world as it was when those renowned knights of old, Hugh De Paiens and Geoffrey, of St. Omen, dedicated tneir swords to the defense of tbe devoted pilgrim to the Holy Sepulcher: or, when at the martyr's stake.

De Molay and Guy of Auvergne testified their fealty to its honor and their faith to its purity. Applause. Among such a people tbe true Knight Templar is always at borne, an honored and a welcome guest. Constituting, as you do, one of the most distinguished and thoroughly representative and dignified organizations in the Commonwealth, it i peculiarly appropriate that your conclave should be bolden in this historic hall, redolent of the fame of ken-tuckv'a iniirhtiest sons and hallowed by the sacred memory of ber most illustrious dead. Many of them trod the same pilgrimage that you have trodden, animated by the same high and holy purposes.

But that pilgrimage is ended; tbeir warefare is over; their swords are runt. On Fame's eternal camping ground Their -silent tents are "The pilgrim warriors sleep the last long sleep. But here in this theater of tbeir renown, inspired by noble emulation of their distinguished virtues, and, perhaps with their enfranchised spirits looking down upon VOU from their bright homes, your delibera tions will not only be characterized by the harmonv of fraternal concord, but redound to the highest honor and glory of our illustrious order. "Agaia extending to you a cordial welcome, permit me to express the hope that we may all mark this day with a white stone, and that when yon shall have concluded your labors you may return in safety to your respective homes, bearing with you the most pleasing memories of this annual conclave. Right Eminont Grand Commander Sir Bernard G.

Witt, of Henderson, replied on behalf of the visiting Sir Knights to the address of welcome by tbe Governor in a few happy and tvell chosen words. The meeting adjourned at 1 o'clock for dinner, which was served at the various hotels and by the Covington, Lexington and Frankfort Commanderies at their respective headquarters. NOTES. The Covington Commandery carried the most beautiful tanner. The Mavsvitle Commandery Band serenaded Col.

J. Stoddard Johnston and Maj. Henry Stanton last eight. The Covington Commandery are entertaining tbeir friends in a royal style at their headquarters-at the Burke Hotel. There were five bands of music in the procession, Maysville, Covington, Louisville, Lexington and Frankfort.

Tbe city never presented so animated an appearance before, not even during the memorable sensational caucus last winter a year ago. Got. Knott, Auditor Hewitt and Treasurer Tate took part in tbe ceremenies. the two first named being members of tbe Knights Templar. A hearse carrying a corpse was unfortunately placed directly in i advance of tue Frankfort Commandery as it was marching to do the reception honors.

E. Sir John TV. Fruett aud Sir F. C. Hughes, of the Frankfort Commandery, are gentlemen of the old school, and understand tbe art of widening the popularity of their Commandery.

The Frankfort Commandery has headquarters at Sowers Ayler's. A sumptuous bill of tare, presided over by Mrs. J. M. Sallel and a corps of lady assistants, comprises the entertainment extended to all callers.

Tbe Superior Court did not cease business to-day, despite the excitement that stirred the city from center to circumference. There were six lawyers present to matt oral arguments before tbe Court, and Judge Bowden told them to fire away if they could speak against the music of live brass bands. The cadets of the Kentucky Military Institute were particularly noticed in the street parade for tbeir handsome appearance and precision of step and movement. They are a well-drilled corps of young iuo, worthy of tbe position of escort to the renowned DeMolay aud other commanderies. The exhibition drill this afternoon was attended by half tbe population, visiting and resident, in the city.

Tbe marching and countermarching and various movements by tbe DeMolay and Louisville Commanderies and K. M. I. Cadets were perfection ot drill training. Five bands of music are now discoursing music from the hotel balconies and Commandery headquarters.

AMIS EM EMS. ftfeeaaley's Theater. There was another good audience at Macau-ley's Theater last nizht to see Mr. Price's charming plsv, "The Old Kentucky Home." The play crows on ene as it Is repeated, since its subtle beauties are oroug-ht out by repetition. Toe performance last night was smoother than ever, and people fell more than ever In love with Miss Kllsler.

Tbe play stands the popular test, and is constantly growing in favor. Mr. Ketell's Heaeflu The following card explains itself: Lonsvimc May VO. Mr. Jam.

s. Barker, Henry Vissman, Emile Bourlier, John M. Leiterle and others. Amusement Tbe box-sheet for tbe sale of seats for "Little Nugget," at Macauley's next week, opens to-day. At the Grand Theater there was another large house last night to see tbe excellent performance of tbe tiaie'y Burlesque Company in "An Adamless Eden." On Satui day afternoon souvenir programmes of the "Old Kentucky Home" engage-, me nt will be distributed to the ladies who visit Macauley 'a Theater.

The souvenirs will be copies of tbe photograph of Miss ULler and Joe Cotton, the lierby winner. Rice's Surprise Party draws large audiences to the Museum this week, with the musical melange entitled "Pop." It is a sparkling ab- sutdity and is capitally performed. This afternoon about 100 ol the inmates of the Anchorage Asylum will attend tbe matinee. "The Sleeping Beauty" will be performed by the pupils of Miss Katie Strauss at tbe Mt- souic Temple Theater Monday evening, May 20. The box sheet is now open at Mr.

D. P. Faulds' music store, and there is promise of a large house. Tbe play is one of Blanche's fairy plays, and is a pretty conceit. For many years our public has not bad the chance of seeing first-class productions of grand Itulian opera, and therefore it is pleasant to announce the appearance of the Milan Optra Company at Phtcnix Hill Park next week.

The engagement commences Tuesday evening, when "II Trovatore" will be presented. Kveiy evening there will be a performance, besides a matinee Sunday afternoon. The press has been most enthusiastic in its praiie of the company. With a powerful array of artists, excellent chorus aud well-trained orchestra, the ensemble of the company is said to surpass tt.at of any company that has been here for many years. Popular prices will prevail.

Aa Incautious Marker. Henry Guedel, residing on Kentucky street, near Fourteenth, wss badly hurt yesterday afternoon. While working in a stable, behind his residence he fell through a hole in tbe floor to the ground below, and badly bruised his shoulder aud side.
