Mrs.

Chapman testified for the prosecution that she was copnting the coins brought to the office by a coroner's investigator after Wirth died Dec. 29, 1977. Mrs. Chapman testified that she thought there was more than $100 in silver coins, but less than $500. Mrs.

Chapman said that while she was counting, Kyriakides and his son, Rod, arrived, gave her money and took the coins. She said she hadn't had any previous contact with Kyriakides over property selling, their locations and whether or not the dealers were likely to be armed. Art Caruso, WJW president, said he suggested the idea after hearing of a similar program in Baltimore last fall. "Nobody took any names -(of callers) or traced the calls," Caruso said. "The police told us they never got calls like that at the police station.

The people seem more comfortable calling a radio station." The program, which began at 8 p.m., opened with a discussion of the problems of drug abuse with Mayor George Voinovich, Ohio Attorney General Anthony Celebrezze and members of the city prosecutor's office. Once calls began, 12 teams of officers were dispatched to various locations on the city's east and west sides. Blood Ritual Injures Two ROSWELL, N.M. (AP) -Two college students who got carried away with a "blood brother" ritual ended up at a hospital for treatment of gashes in their forearms, police said. Melvin Hatch, 21, of Towaoc, and Robert Meason, 21, of Las Cruces, cut each other's arms in a ritual in their dormitory room at the Eastern New Mexico University-Roswell campus, said campus police chief Leo Spear.

"Mr. Meason became intrigued by stories that were being told by Hatch about the Indian ceremonies and so forth and they decided they would like to become blood brothers," Spear said. Injures Teen Schomer said his stepdaughter was apparently planning to clear ice from the w-indshield of her car. "She fell on the glass jar and severed an artery," he said. There were no witnesses to the accident, police said.

Schomer said his wife, Mary, heard her daughter's cries and rushed outside to find Miss Kenimen lying on the ground, bleeding profusely. A neighbor called an ambulance and Miss Kenimen underwent almost four hours of surgery before dying in the hospital recovery room, Schomer said. She said there was talk about it in the office later and that she was worried she might have done something wrong. Defense lawyer Jerry Gold said the coins were counted at the coroner's office Dec. 30, 1977, and that someone apparently told the clerks doing the counting to separate the silver.

Kyriakides never saw any valuable coins and had no reason to think there were any there, Gold said. "Nobody saw Kyriakides take anything and Kyriakides didn't take anything, either, from the coroner's office or anywhere else," Gold said. Earlier, Akron policeman James Peticca testified thai he had gone to Wjrth's home after the family called for help. Peticca said coins were found throughout the house and that it took several hours to count them at the house and again at the coroner's office. Neither Mrs.

Chapman nor Peticca said they could recall which coroner's investigator was at the scene. In his opening statement, Prosecutor Lynn Slaby said the state would present a coin expert who will testify that the coins were worth three to 20 times more than face value because of silver content. Pair Indicated In Missing Money Case COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) It may sound like a rerun, but Elizabeth Jane Buerger and Robert W. Ycazell have been indicted in connection with $1.3 million missing from the state treasurer's office. The two originally were indicted last August, but Assistant Prosecuting Attorney David Johnson said Miss BoergeVs attorney, James Doughty of Springfield, filed a motion to have those indictments dismissed.

Doughty said grand jurors were periodically substituted during the investigation of Miss Boerger and Yeazell; that unauthorized people were in the grand jury room; and that prejudicial statements about Miss Boerger were made to the grand jury. Doughty said it was improper to allow Ohio Highway Patrol Lt. Joseph L. Hopkins, a prinicipal investigator in the case, and another officer to operate a tape recorder during testimony to the grand ury. He also said that grand jurors were improperly told that there was evidence Miss Boerger was faking hysterical amnesia when she retired from her job as head cashier in the treasurer's office in January 1980.

Franklin County Common Pleas Judge William Gillie signed an order allowing evidence given to three previous grand juries to be read to the new grand jury thai started its term Jan. 7. The indictments handed up las' August and those returned Thursday contained identical charges. Miss Boerger, 48, is charged with one count of theft in office and three counts of tampering with records. 12B REC VEHICLES J.L.
