Liberty Canal Lewisville, was pronounced dead on arrival Friday at 1 p.m. at Coshocton County Memorial Hospital after suffering an apparent heart attack in his home. Born in Millersburg Nov. 3, 1916, he was the son of the late Don and Donna Pyers Gray. A graduate of the Millersburg High School class of 1935, Gray was employed for 19 years by Blue Crystal Coal Co.

For 13 years, he worked with Ohio Amco retiring in 1980. He was a veteran of World War II and a 25-year member of VFW Buckhorn Post 7079 in Killbuck. On Nov. 19, 1968, he married Esther Adams, who survives. Other survivors include a son, Robert, Columbus; a daughter, Paulette Gray, Killbuck; a stepson, Cecil L.

Mencer, Coshocton; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Donald (Barbara) Jenkins, Union; a sister, Mrs. Paul (Ruby) Hoops, Lake Wales, four step-grandchildren and a step-great-granddaughter. A brother preceded him in death. Funeral service will be 1 p.m.

Monday at the Given-Dawson Funeral Home, Coshocton. Dr. Russell Hoy will officiate and burial will follow in Canal Lewisville Cemetery. Calling hours are 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday and until time of services Monday.

Laurence 11. Finley MILLERSBURG Laurence H. Finley, 65, 3'A N. Crawford died Friday morning at Pomerene Hospital following an extended illness. Born Sept.

9, 1915, in Holmes County, he was the son of Walter and Delia Mullet Finley. He served with the navy during World War II. From 1948 to 1974, he worked as a purchasing agent for B.F. Goodrich, Akron. On May 23, 1941, he married Mildred E.

Parrish, who survives. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. James (Ma-jorie) Weiss, Millersburg, Today's Sheriff HIT-SKIP PROBED Donald Slaughter, 1146 Adams St. reported a hit-skip accident about 12:43 a.m. today.

The accident is still under investigation, and there was only slight damage to the rear of his 1972 Chrysler, deputies stated. SUNDIAL STOLEN Mrs. Edward Porteus. 739 Ohio 541 West reported the theft of a sundial valued at $80 about 8:15 a.m. Friday.

The theft occurred sometime Wednesday or. Thursday and is still under investigation, deputies report. VANDALISM REPORTED Maurice Sheffield, 1912 S. Lawn Extension reported someone shot out a window of his garage about 8: 17 a.m. Friday.

Mina Duncan of 1623 Franklin Township Road 2ff' reported about 10:03 a.m. Friday someone had vandaliz.el her mailbox. Dorothy Wilson 46429 County Road 501 reported about 12:43 a.m. today a window was broken out of the West End Grocery about midnight. This is still under investigation, deputies report.

Fire TRUNK DAMAGED City firefighters responded to a car fire at 9:30 p.m. Friday at 4O0 N. Whitewoman St. The 1974 Monte Carlo owned by Lonnie Young 413 Coe Ave. had a fire in the trunk.

Firelighters said a taillight shorted out catching the contents of the trunk on fire. Firefighters estimated about $75 in damage. Municipal Court BOUND OVER Stephen R. Miller, 28, Fourth Street, Dresden, appeared for a preliminary hearing on charges of felonious assult, second degree felony. Judge James Freeman bound his case over to the Coshocton County Common Pleas court after finding probable cause.

SENTENCED Benjamin Gary Huff, 49, 26851 County Road 22, Warsaw, was fined $200 ($100 suspend ed), sentenced to 30 days in jail (26 suspended), and put on six months probation for domestic violence. Some 20 women from the state United Methodist Churches attended the school. SENIORS GATHER Sara Lennous was accepted as a new member and Bessie Schumaker was a guest when the Senior Citizens met in the Legion social rooms.

Charles Cox Mrs. Charles C. (Maude) Saylor Cox, 70, 16919 Township Road 287, Conesville, died Friday at 8:50 p.m. in the home of her daughter, Mrs. John (Sharon) Buncak, Trinway, following a lengthy illness.

(Helen Fender, 63, Fair-view Street, died Friday in her home following an extended illness. She was born in Coshocton County March 3, 1918, a daughter of the late Myrtle Lautenschleger. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, New Bedford. Survivors include her husband, George two daughters, Mrs.

Ronnie (Shirlev) Felton, Baltic and 15 be NEWCOMERSTOWN -Chapter 29 of Women of the Moose met with Senior Regent Sharon Eckelberry presiding. Eight members were present when the group voted to sponsor a food stand for the Frontier Days celebration. Carrie Dennis won the attendance award and a new can didate, Susan Harbold, was voted on and will be received at their next meeting of Aug. 11. Doris Bowser, membership chairman, will be in charge for the chapter meeting night observed at this time.

GROUP GATHERS Sharon McConnell, leader, presided over the TOPS OH 1378 meeting held at the Nazarene Church. The opening consisted of group singing. A 15'4-pound net loss was recorded and Deborah Brill was received as a new member. It was also noted two more members are now eligible for six weeks perfect attendance charms. A contest was conducted by Elizabeth Hammersley and winners were Opal Robinson and Brill.

The group closed with the TOPS Pledge and prayer by Anna Whitis. ATTEND SCHOOL Six women from Christ United Methodist Church, Mrs. H.N. (Linda) Jones. Hudson, and Mrs.

Schlarb Stephen L. Schlarb, 24, Craig, a former Coshocton County resident, died at 5:45 a.m. Wednesday along with a co-worker in a mining accident in Craig. Born Nov. 1, 1956, in Coshocton, he was the son of Lester and Norma Hutchison Schlarb, 19464 County Road 6.

He was a 1975 graduate of River View and was employed at the Northern Coal Meker, where he was killed when a mine roof caved in. Schlarb was a member of the Herman Construction Co. soft-ball team in Craig. Surviving are two brothers, Charles, County Road 6, and Kevin, a grandfather, Virgil Hutchison of the West Lafayette Care Center; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral service will be 11 a.m.

Monday at the Given-Dawson Funeral Home in Coshocton with the Rev. Leonard Kittle officiating. Burial will be in Coshocton County Memory Gardens. Calling hours are 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday and until time of services Monday at the funeral home.

Charles W. Couts NEWCOMERSTOWN Charles W. Couts, 67, 145 Chapman Ave. died 5 a.m. today in Bethesda Hospital, Zanesville after an extended illness.

Born May 24, 1914 in Newcomerstown, he was the son of the late Charles and Lulu Norris Couts. On March 27, 1937 he married Virginia Randall, who survives.
