Lawmakers, mayors, city council members and others from around the state must fill out the forms and get them to the Louisiana Board of Ethics. The forms provide information about their income, properties and debts. The public can view financial information about their elected officials at the Board of Ethics' Web site, though only a handful had been scanned and available for viewing by late Friday. COVINGTON Former janitor gets life for student's rape A former janitor at a Slidell elementary school has been sentenced to life in prison without parole, plus 20 years, for raping one boy and molesting another at the school.

Dino Schwertz was convicted by a jury in April of the aggravated rape of a 12-year-old boy and the molestation of an 8-year-old boy in rest rooms at the Abney Elementary School in the fall of 2007. He was sentenced Friday. The older boy testified that he was raped twice by Schwertz, while the younger victim said he was groped and fondled. Born on September 12, 1925, Mr. Sigur was a native of Abbeville and a resident of Lafayette since 1967. He was a veteran of military service, having served in the United States Marine Corp during World War II in the 4th Marine Division. He wa9 also a member of the Acadiana Marine Corp League. A Rosary will be prayed Sunday at 6 p.m.

Thursday, May 14, 2009, at Lafayette General Medical Center, after a lengthy battle with cancer, and will be deeply missed by all of his family and friends. Norman was a beloved husband and father who loved spending time in the country with his dog, and watching LSU football. He cherished his family and seemed to live his life through the eyes of his children. He was a good man and best friend to his son.
