They will their farm auction Jan. 11 and then plan to move to Merrill into the house they recently purchased from Nis Ahrendsen. NO HOME LIGHTING CONTEST THIS YEAR; DONATE PRIZE MONEY TO PUBLIC LIBRARY Even though no prizes were offered this year, many homes and yards were beautifully lighted, among them the home of Mrs. Irene Zensen.

The S70 in prizes usually given by the Community club and Volunteer Firemen was donated to the Merrill library in the city building. The librarian. Mrs. Nellie Todd. reports that the children are making good use of the library books.

NORMAN MOREHEAD BUYS DON'S SUPERETTE STORE Mr. and Mrs. Don Oxenford have sold their grocery store. Don's Superette, to Norman Morehead of Leeds, who took possession Jan. 2 Mr.

Morehead has rented the C. J. Vanderloo house on Calhoun St. and with his i Shirley and their 10-year-old daughter Sharon will soon move to Merrill. SLATE WOMEN'S STUDY CLUB MEETING JAN.

C. Hauff, Mrs. Gary Shaner best known here as Ann, and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Hauff of Sioux City, is now stationed on the island of Guam in the Pacific which was the scene of a recent typhoon.

Her husband was ordered out to sea with all the other ships when the typhoon was predicted. Mrs. Shaner is the dietitian in the hospital there and decided to stay there during the typhoon. All the hospital windows were blown out, the roof taken off and several walls knocked down, yet no one was seriously injured. Mrs.

Shaner writes she hopes she will a similar experience. They were fortunate a their home received little damage only a amount of water, but their car did recei.e seme damage. Merrill Local Mr. and Mrs. Donald Bobier and baby daughter Julianne, who were called here by the death of Mrs.
