Shepherd; aod pained from this life Veterans Hospital in Des Molnei, January 10, at the age of 46 years, 9 Ora from Panora High School in 1935 and engaged in farming until he entered the Army from Adair County on September 10, 1942, early in World War IL e-i He served in the'Europeah Theater -of Operations for 33 months taking part in the African and Sicilian Campaigns, for which he was awarded the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater ribbon with silver star, a bronze arrowhead, and five overseas bars At the end of this period of service, Ora received his -discharge the Army in October, 1945 and re-enlisted in August, 1946 When our country entered the Korean conflict, Ora was given ex- ensive radar training and spent 20 months in Japan as a Radar Equipment Foreman. It was his desire to make a further study of and electronics upon his discharge from the Army in December of 1952, he applied for admission to the School of Electri- Engineering at Iowa State Col- However, illness intervened after 4 short months of study, and-6ra entered the Veterans Hospital in Des Moines for treatment of acute leukemia. Herron, son of William and Rachel Herron, was born Ohio, December 28, 1863 and passed away at his home January 19, 1954 at the age of 90 years and 21 He came to Iowa in a covered wagon with his parents when he w.as four years old and settled on the same farm which has been his home for 86 years. He was one of a family of eighteen children, all of whom' have preceded him in death.

He was married to Mattie Paige iwho passed away in 1944. To this union were born two children; Hazel iwho lives at home and Millard who resides on the home farm. Besides the two children he is survived by a daughter-in-law; three grandchildren, 'Frank of Ontonagon, Michigan, Bill Jr. arid Mrs. Sherm Middleton both of Guthrie Center; seven great grandchildren, cine great great grandson; "and a host of distant relatives and loving 'riends.
