'Saturday, July 22, 1961 WELLsviLiE DAILY REPORTER, WELLSVILLE, NEW YORK i Three Factory Shutdown Ends in Agreement The two-week work stoppage of Corp. The signing followed a nearly unanimous "yes" vote afternoon by union members to a proposal worked out 'by company and union leaders. A formal joint statement by the company and Moore Lodge 1580, IAM, said only that work c-n re- pairs would resume today, anfl after their completion the plant would operate on two 10-hour shifts "to make up lost time and Unofficial information based on comments of many Worthington workers indicated the repairs would be made by the regular crew, and the extra- hour shifts were to continue until workers had received overtime 1 pay equal lo Ihe amount lost because of the shutdown. The plant will return to normal operations as soon as possible." The unofficial statements by Worthington workers indicated the vote favoring return to work der terms of the agreement had been carried by a majority of 98 to 99 per cent. The same sources )', said the company was expected to call in extra workers if necessary to the repairs. The July 10 shutdown came when the union demanded the repair work on the factory's power plant, scheduled to be carried out that week by regular maintenance men, be done instead by men chosen according to seniority. Under the original schedule, production was to be halted during the week of July 10 while the repairs, began Saturday, July 8, were completed. In a December announcement of the planned shutdown the power plant overhaul, the company said workers desiring to so so might take the week as part of their vacation time.

About half the workers did so, and the other employes no' scheduled to work on the ovcrhau chose to face a work-loss, paylcss week instead of vacation at tha time.
