From there on in the game was a nip-and-tuck affair with the Eskymos trying to overcome the early Menominee advantage. In the closing minutes of the third quarter Esky guard Ron Johnson connected for two field goats to cut the deficit to 63-57. The Eskymos lost their starting lorwards, Mike Mileski and Gary Wellman, in the final minute of the game when both drew fifth fouls. With the Eskymos keeping closer check on young Hofer, the Maroons capitalized by working the ball into big Mike Miller in the middle. Miller came through with 25 points to take scoring honors for the night Hofer finished with 10 field goals for a total of 20 points.
