War- mi Woman's rlub will meet on Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 24, at. 2 o'clock in the parlors of the Methodist church.

The rlub will have as its guests the Stockton, Lena, Winslow nnd South Wayne clubs. An interest inp program will be presented, on the thrmr "The Heritage of America." The Junior class of Warren high school presented the play, "The Very Light Brigade" on Wednesday evening to a large crowd at the high school auditorium. The Warren high school basketball team will play its first game of the season with Winslow high Tuesday night, Nov. 24, in the Warren school gymnasium. A preliminary game will start at 7:15.

Eastern Star To Meet On Monday, Nov. 23, Warren chapter, O. E. will hold a special meeting for initiation, program and refreshments. The initiation will be by candlelight.

The members of the Warren fire department will hold a poultry raffle at the fire house on Tuesday evening, Nov. 24, to which all their friends are invited. Kenneth Driebelbeis, son of Mrs. Iva Driebelbeis, who enlisted in the navy and reported at Des Moines, la. has been sent to the Naval Training station at Great Lakes for recruit training.

John Rowe, son of Mrs. Elva Johnson, of Warren, has reported to the U. S. Naval Training station at Great Lakes for his recruit training. Robert Long, and Fred Pash left Tuesday for induction in the army.

Arthur Savage, Robert Doersam, John Kleeberger and Paul Bartell went to Chicago Tuesday for examination for army duty. Mr. and Mrs. Victor Halsted, of Savanna, formerly of Warren, are the parents of a daughter bom Wednesday night In the Deaconess hospital, Freeport. Mrs.

Dobler. Rev. R.S: Wilson, Of Dixon, To Speak At Banquet At Cedarville Cedarville, 111., Nov. R. S.

Wilson, of Bethel Evangelical Congregational church, of Dixon, will be the guest speaker at the Christian Endeavor banquet to be held in the Evangelical Congregational church basement on Tuesday, evening, Nov. 24, at 7 o'clock. The Rev. Mr. Wilson who came to the Dixon charge from the east, is a well known speaker, especially devoted to young people, and is at present serving the conference as head of the teacher training division, and has served on the board of examiners.

Clyde Kaiser will serve as toastmaster for the occasion, and a varied program of musical, vocal and special numbers has been arranged, local talent and several guest artists from other towns participating. The banquet will be served by the C. I. C. class of the Sunday school, and all those planning to attend are asked to get in their reservations by Sunday.

and Mrs. Albert Warfel. Frank Yeager, who has been employed at the Savanna ordnance depot as a shell inspector, is being sent to the state of New Jersey for further training by the government. Sterling Voters Reject Proposal To Establish Municipal Airport Sterling, 111., Nov. voters yesterday rejected a proposal to construct and maintain a municipal airport by a vote of 1,589 to 1,527.

Two of the city's four wards favored the proposal but the margin of "no" votes in the other wards resulted in the proposition's defeat. The vote by precincts: First, 358 no; 242 yes; second, 706 no; 615 yes; third, 161 no; 204 yes and fourth, 364 no; 466 yes. The proposal would have authorized the park board to issue bonds totaling $30,000 to purchase the necessary land; the building, maintaining and protecting of the property, and acquisition of real estate to be used as a site for a new armory. The proposed site for the airport, consisting of about 500 acres, is at McClue's corners, a mile west of Sterling and north of the Lincoln highway. Many workers in plants were unable to vote in the election as the polls were open only from 8 a.

on Sunday, Nov. 22. The theme of the program will be, "The Cele- oration of Thanksgiving from Earliest Times to the Present." There will be various appropriate hymns and solo selections to carry on this idea. David Goeke is serving as the chairman of the service. The collection at this service will be used toward making up the church's quota for the Presbyterian War Time Service commission.
