JUNE 7, 2004 HOME NEWS TRIBUNE PAGE B3 OBITUARIES JEANETTE BLOOM AGE: 72 EAST BRUNSWICK Jeanette Janovsky Bloom, 72, died yesterday, June 6, 2004, at home. Born in Cumberland, she resided in Buffalo, and West Orange before moving to East Brunswick 36 years ago. She attended The State University of New York at Buffalo, graduating in 1953 with a bachelor of science degree in education. Mrs. Bloom was a member of The American Contract Bridge League and was designated a Life Master in 1994.

She was also a member of The Friends of East Brunswick Library for many years. Mrs. Bloom contributed anonymously to many charitable causes. In 1972 she was a winner on the "3 on a match" quiz show. Mrs.

Bloom was a congregant of the East Brunswick Jewish Center. Surviving are her husband of 36 years, Donald Bloom, as well as a son, Richard Julius; two daughters, Lisa Hughes and Deborah Berman, and five grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 9, at Beth Israel Cemetery in Woodbridge, under the direction of Mount Sinai Memorial Chapels, Cranbury Road at Evergreen Boulevard, East Brunswick. ANN DeBARTOLO AGE: 84 MONROE Ann J. (Bachleda) DeBartolo, died Thursday, June 3, 2004, The Pavillions at Forrestal, Plainsboro. Born in Bethlehem, she lived in Milltown for most of her life, then Highland Park before moving to Greenbrier at Whittingham in Monroe Township in 1995. She was a communicant of Nativity of Our Lord R.C. Church, Monroe Township, and was a member of the senior citizen clubs of Milltown and Jamesburg and Monroe Township.

She was also a member of the Italian American and Single Homeowners clubs at Whittingham. Her husband, Charles died 1989. She is survived by a son with whom she lived, Richard a daughter, Carol and her husband, Thomas Roche, of Kingwood, Texas, and two grandchildren, Scott and Kristen Roche. A funeral liturgy was celebrated on Saturday, June 5, at Immaculate Conception Church, Spotswood. Entombment was in Holy Cross Mausoleum, South Brunswick.

Norman Middlesex Norman Tanzman, 85, a former long time New Jersey state senat assed away yesterday, June at home in West End, He also resided in Palm Beach, Fla. Born in New York City, Mr. Tanzman moved to New Brunswick when he was 4, and then to Highland Park. A 1935 graduate of New Brunswick High School, he joined the real estate firm Jacobson Goldfarb in 1938.

After serving in the Coast Guard in World War II, he rejoin: mentor, Morris Goldfarb 1. .5. His astute business sense earned him a place as a partner in the firm, now known as Jacobson, Goldfarb Tanzman Associates, LLC in Woodbridge. Mr. Tanzman married Marion Schwartz of Rahway in 1941.

After the war, the couple settled in Woodbridge, where they resided and raised their family for nearly 40 years, before moving to West End. His commitment, knowledge and expertise in the real estate industry was legendary. He was highly regarded by colleagues and clients alike, spanning six Linden A RAHWAY MAN was killed when the car he was driving collided with a utility pole, possibly after he suffered a seizure. Ronald P. Dirmeitis, 36, was driving a 2004 Chevy DUILIO GRASSIS AGE: 83 NO. BRUNSWICK Duilio L. "Dewey" Grassis, 83, died Saturday, June 5, 2004, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. Born in New Brunswick, he was a lifelong North Brunswick resident.

Mr. Grassis was a tool and die maker for Johns-Manville Co. in North Brunswick for over 4 40 years. He was a member of the company's Quarter Century Club. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Surviving are his wife, Theresa Horvath Grassis; his daughter, Gloria Papai and his son, Michael Grassis, both of North Brunswick; a sister, Gloria Zavetz of East Brunswick, and a grandson, Joseph Papai. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. tomorrow at Selover Funeral Home, 555 Georges Road, North Brunswick. Interment will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery, New Brunswick.

Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home tomorrow from 9 a.m. until the time of services. PETER HENDERSON AGE: 82 EDISON Peter L. Henderson, 82, of Long Beach Island, formerly of Edison, died yesterday, June 6, 2004, at JFK Hartwyck at Oak Tree in Edison. Born in the Nixon section of Edison, he was a lifelong Edison resident, before moving to Long Beach Island in 1994.

He was a pipeline supervisor with Trans Continental Gas in Houston, Texas, for 32 years before retiring in 1983. Mr. Henderson was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a communicant of St. Cecelia's R.C.

Church in Iselin. He was predeceased by his the former Elizabeth Ritthaler, in 1993, and his son, Peter in 1962, and three sisters, Elizabeth Cadmus, Sophia Henderson and Margaret Henderson. Surviving are two brothers, Joseph and Rodger, both of Edison, and many nieces and nephews. Services will take place on Wednesday at a time to be announced at Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, 568 Middlesex Ave. (Route 27), Metuchen.

Interment will be at St. Gertrude's Cemetery in Colonia. Visitation will be 2 p.m.-4 p.m. and 7 p.m.-9 p.m. tomorrow at the funeral home.

JOANNE JASIONOWSKI AGE: 65 MILLTOWN Joanne L. (Lombardo) Jasionowski, 65, of Milltown passed away yesterday, June 6, 2004, at Robert Wood Johnson Univer- Tanzman, state decades. He was often called upon for guidance by politicians, commercial educational institutions and developers. As a protege of 1889 photo Norman Tanzman the late David T. Wilentz, a noted state Democratic leader, Mr.

Tanzman entered politics in 1960. He was elected to the state General Assembly for four terms and was Assistant Majority Leader in 1967. That same year he was elected to the Senate, serving until 1974. He was named Legislator of the Year by the New Jersey Association of Chosen Freeholders in 1966 and the New Jersey Young Democrats in 1967. Active in numerous local organizations, Mr.

She was a member of the Milltown Senior Citizens Club. She had been a volunteer for many years at Saint Peter's University Hospital in New Brunswick. Predeceased by her loving husband of 36 years, Ralph, she is survived by a son, Ralph Jr. of Milltown; a daughter, Mary A. and son-in-law, Jack Moulds, of Hamilton; her mother, Marie Lombardo of Toms River; a sister, Susan Leone of Toms River, and a brother, Nicholas Lombardo of Las Vegas, Nev.

JAN JASNOS AGE: 59 SOUTH AMBOY Jan Jasnos, 59, of South Amboy died Saturday, June 5, 2004, at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy Division. Born in Poland, he lived in South Amboy since 1972. He was a construction worker, employed by Pianka Construction Co. in South Amboy. Prior to that, he worked for Stearn Foster Co.

in North Brunswick. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart R.C. Church in South Amboy. He was predeceased by his son, Robert Jasnos, in 2003. He is survived by his wife, Zofia Grabarz Jasnos; a daughter, Donna Briganti of Woodbridge, and two granddaughters, Julia and Audrey.

BRUNSWICK Alexander Kenko, 83, died Saturday, June 5, 2004, ert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. Born in New York City, he resided in Toms River before moving to North Brunswick five years ago. Mr. Kenko was a mechanic for United Shoe Machine Corp. in New York before his retirement in 1980.

He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army. Surviving are his wife, Maria Fedyn Kenko; a son, Alexander Kenko of Old Bridge; a daughter, Diana Batten and her husband, Charles, of North Brunswick; a sister, Sophie Russo of Oceanside, N.Y., and two grandchildren, Jessica and Charles Batten. Gertrude's Cemetery Mausoleum in Colonia. Relatives and friends may call 7 p.m.-9 p.m. tomorrow at the funeral home. EDWARD KRUGER AGE: 72 SOUTH BOUND BROOK Edward G. Kruger, 72, died Saturday, June 5, 2004, at Saint Peter's University Hospital, New Brunswick.

Born on July 27, 1931, in New York City, he was the son of Charles and Helen Jaeger Kruger. He had lived in South Bound Brook most of his life. Mr. Kruger was a sheet metal worker with Sheet Metal Workers International Association Local 27, AFL-CIO, Farmingdale, from 1952 until retiring in 1993. After retirement, he was a school crossing guard for the South Bound Brook public school system.

Mr. Kruger was a Navy veteran of the Korean War, serving aboard the aircraft carrier Midway (CVA 41) as a metalsmith 2nd Class. He was a member of the American Legion Giles Biondi Post 63, where he was past post commander and past chaplain. He was also past Somerset County commander of the American Legion. He was a 43-year member of Eastern Star Lodge 105, Free and Accepted Masons, Bound Brook.

He had been a troop leader for the Boy Scouts of America in South Bound Brook many years ago. He played for many years with the Bound Brook Drum and Bugle Corps. He was a member of the Reformed Church of Bound Brook, in South Bound Brook. Mr. Kruger was a stamp and coin collector.

He also collected Hummel figurines. He enjoyed attending baseball games and was an avid U.S. Civil War history buff. Mr. Kruger was predeceased by his brother, Eugene Kruger.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Latham Kruger; his daughters, Heather and Elizabeth Kruger, both at home, and Donna Kruger of Murfreesboro, his sisters, Dorothy Doremus of Barton, and Helen Michalowski of St. Augustine, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 9, at Hagan Chamberlain Funeral Home, 225 Mountain Bound Brook. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Woodbridge.

ELIZABETH O'DONNELL AGE: 69 CARTERET Elizabeth "Betsy" J. O'Don- nell, 69, of Carteret died yesterday, June 6, 2004, at JFK Medical Center in Edison. She was born in Long Island City, N.Y., and lived in Carteret for the past 50 years. She was a homemaker and a member of the Afternoon and Evening Carteret Seniors. Mrs.

O'Donnell was a communicant of St. Joseph R.C. Church in Carteret. She was predeceased by her mother, Rosemary Clemo, in 1985; and she was also predeceased by her husband, Eugene O'Donnell, in 1986. She is survived by her son, Michael O'Donnell and his wife, Cindy, of Howell, and her daughter, Doreen Sloan of Carteret.

CAROLINE SARKUS AGE: 91 PERTH AMBOY Caroline M. Hodan Sarkus, 91, died Saturday, June 5, 2004, at Raritan Bay Medical Center, She was born in Perth Amboy and lived there all her life. She co-owned, along with her husband, George's Luncheonette, on State Street in Perth Amboy for 40 years before retiring. She was a communicant of St. Stephen's R.C.

Church in Perth Amboy. Her husband, George P. Sarkus, died in 2001. She was also predeceased by two brothers, Edward and Peter Hodan and a sister, Adele Barlecki. She is survived by a sister, Mary M.
