AN IMPARTIAL REVIEW OF GROVE li CLEVDLAND'S COURSE.

The braggart newspaper that shouted so lustily a few day ago when the repeal bill passed the Senste, "Grover won failed to raise that cry on tbe morning of the 8th when the election returns of the day before were published. On yotr before he waa hailed a deliverer 1 But to-day, the masses of the people look npon him as the friend of tbe -'Money Devils' the ally of Wall Street and the imitator of British financiers I They may be doing bini an injustice, we hope they are, but assuredly be baa caused tbe suspicion by his own appointments. Who is the Premier in tbia Administration? Is he a Democrat or has he ever been one Are tbe gifts of the Administration to be dispensed to the Democrats, or rather to Mr. Cleveland' personal friends? I Hornblower a representative Demoorat If so, when did be become one, or what ha he ever done for the party? In a word, has the party any one within ita rank capable of filling the office of Secretary of State If so, wby dii this modern Cassar go outside of tbe party to fill the office? These and other pranks of the Executive indicate that Mr. Grover Cleveland has neither affection nor sympathy for th party that raised him to the high position he now occupies Tbe man that ignores the claims of Democrats when dispensing his gifts, is not Heavily imbued with the spirit of Jefferson, Jackson, or the early Democratic Fathers.

He may write a glittering message full of lofty ide.is end breathing a spirit of patriotism in every line, bnt the masses judge him not by his writings but by his actions. A year ago the country wan in a great measure prosperous, look at it to-day. We are not a fatalist, but we cannot help ac knowledging the fact that since' his inaug uration on the 4th of March h. at a series cf disasters have come upon us. There are more unemployed men in the United States to-day, than at any one time before in the history of this country.

Farm produots a at low ebb, the farmers are despondent and in debt; the railroads are languishing, and a dark pall hangs over everything. a crisis like this, what does be propose to do Does he suggest a means to give employment to tbe masses No, he calk Compess in extraordinary session to enact a measure to improve the currency. Tbe people did not complain of the quality of the money, but their complaint was loud and long as to tbe quantity. However, he said the bankers and business men called for an "honest dollar," and their demand must be complied with, regardless of what the people desire. The elections held on the 7th met are an indication of the people think of Grover.

A year ago, he was almost idol ized by the masses. How is it to-day1? We are told that his sycophants have his sacred person guarded lest some crank should in a moment of excitement assail him. He is more unpopular than any man wbo has preceded him in the same exalted position. Should he continue in his present course the remainder of his term, where will be the Democratic party The only hope left is, that he may change his present policy and torn back to the side of tha parole. THE ADVERTISER SCORED.

Birmingham Daily Newi.J Senator Morgan has written a letter to the Age-Herald, in which be co -reots sun dry misrepresentations of his utterances in the Senate by tbe Montgomery Advertiser, and concludes with the following scorcher 'If tbe Advertiser had remembered its recent petitions to me, that I would save its 'head' from a clubbing at tbe hands of a Senator who was its abomination in 1891 -2, the severity of its criticism on me might be mitigated. It seems ready no 7 to fawn upon 'Hercules' and to lick his The vindictive intolerance of the Adver tiser is in strong contrast with an attitude of petition we me, Caseins, ere I sink." Both branches of the Lg islature are Bepnolioan, and that party has majority of sixteen on Joint ballot.

The Democratic municipal ticket was elected in the city of New York by C7.900 majority. In the city of Brooklyn. Mayor Boody, Demoorat, was defeated by a major ity of 20,000 or more. New Jersey has taken the Bepubliem route, and the Legislature just chosen will select Senator McPherson's successor. He is the man who said tbat if the Senate did not pass tbe Voorbeee repeal bill his State would go Republican.

The infamy was con summated by the help of John Sherman. Gov. MeKiuley and high tariff were en dorsed in Ohio by about 80,000 majority. In Pennsylvania by about 110,000. Both Htate aro rotten boroughs and carry no influence beyond their borders.

The Now York Eveniaa Post, a favorite Mugwump organ of Mr. Cleve land intimates that the political disaster was caused on account of Mr. Cleveland's cruel desertion of civil service reform "We do not suppose many, if any.

In the above extract yon can see what a Cleveland Demoorat thinks of the common masses of Ike common people.

The decent classes according to the Post are thoee who gamble in eorn, cotton, pork, wheat, etc. One cause of the political disaster is Mr. Cleveland's unpopularity, which is caused by himself. MORGAN. The Montgomery Advertiser is still after Morgan's seat in tbe United States Senate, and to attain that end every issue of tbe paper contains more or less abuse of John T. Morgan. The old lady is malevolent, malignant and vindictive, but she is sure to fail in her present efforts, viz To oust the Senator and put Gov. Thomas G.

The Democracy of Alabama is getting tired of the Advertiser's projecting; its cranky and despotic ways have broken up tbe party throughout the State and has caused more bickerings, enmity and hesrt-bnraiDg aaioug the whit people than all other thiags combined. Add to this the cheekieess of the old dame and the thing become insnfferable.
