(AP) An Evanston, 111., industrialist and his wife have given Dartmouth college $1.5 of the largest gifts in Dartmouth help finance a new medical science building.

The gift was from Foster G. McGaw, board chairman of American Hospital Supply and his wife, Mary, the college said Friday. The building will be named for James D. Vail, a 1920 graduate and Mrs. McGaw's first husband.
