Successful Homes Tour sells out The Holiday Homes Tour was a complete sellout and the four interesting homes on the tour were very popular with tour-goers, and the uwners were popular with Merrilee Christman, Tour chairman, and others working on the tour. There was a dazzling array of new boutique items and the Turf Club was a treasure house. The Better Homes and Gardens magazine people were "turned on," and took 32 color pictures of the These will be shown next Christmas in their Christmas Idea Book. There was a change this year in the Holiday Homes Tour bus boys' appearance.

The colorful holly custom-made fbr Elsie Hetherington) ties were the same but the starched white jackets were missing; instead each "boy" wore on Ihe left sleeve of his white shirt a festive red satin garter complete with holly motif and two jingle bells. Mary Fran Anderegg made the garters from a design created by Elsie. Cay Mortenson, bus boy chairman (since tbe first Holiday Homes Tour), certainly knew on whom to call when the customary jackets suddenly became unavailable shortly before the tour day. Both Mary Fran's and Elsie's husbands have been bus boys tor years. And, incidentally, Bart Anderegg has to fly on an inauspicious schedule the rest of the month because of his interest in and his commitment to the tour on Dec.

3 (he is a TWA overseas This is quite typical of the way all these fellows, who must be husbands of auxiliary members, feet about this literally priceless help they so capably provide for the Turf Club Tea House. Just another reason far tbe continuing success of the Holiday Homes tour. Bus boys this year were Ranney Adams, Bartling Anderegg. Wendell Chapman, Paul Christman, James Curry, John Kerninando, James Flinn, Dennis Gilchrist, Jack Grover, Robert Harbur, Ernest Hetherington, Louis King, Charles Newberg, James Parker, J. Donald Pauley, Joseph Sargis, John Saunders, David Shelley, Clayton Stanley.

Joseph Sutherland, Loren Thompson. William Tiedge, Earl Towsley, J. L. (Gus) Young and John 1. Young.

An added attraction at the God-dard home on the lour was the 1930 Buick standing on the driveway. This car was in the 1951 Paris Auto Show and has been the property of Dr. Lewis May for several years. Mrs. Christman says this is just another example of community participation in the tour, Merrilee and her Homes Tour assistant, Gracie Tallon, are forming a sorority to be composted of former Holiday Homes Tour chairmen.

They are planning a luncheon and the requirement is that each chairman share her experience of something monumental that happened during her year. "Pete" and Nancy May have a perfect way to celebrate the Christmas season. They sent out invitations to 200 and each read, "and tamily," and there must have been 400 in the home and out-of-doors. The Mays have four sons, Chip, Cass, Matt and Pete and they are a family with friends galore. The giant Christmas tree and the laden Christmas brunch table were centers of attraction.

The charming house was built to the specifications of the Mays and gives the feelings of flowing into the out-of-doors. The home of and Mrs, Robert Purnell on Hampton Road was beautifully decorated tbe holiday season. It was one of the four homes on the Holiday Homes Tour and was greatly admired by the visitors. The Purnells hosted two large parties at their home soon after the tour and they tented in the patio. The first was cocktails and dinner and dancing for 80 with the Jim Starr combo playing (or dancing.

Tbe next night the Purnell home was the setting for the festive Christmas parly of the Arcadia Assistance League. Bingo Roncelli and her committee planned the party and provided tbe hors d'oeuvres. Perhaps one reason the Purnell home is so tastefully decorated and filled with antiques is because Anne herself is an interior decorator. She is the Anne in the Interior decorating studio of Anne-Verda Interior Decorators. Betty Price has joined the ranks of those "who just happen to have a picture of their grandchild." She is the proud grandmother of Bradley Thomas Snydcrs, who was born Oct.

13. His parents are Susan and Dick and they live in Sierra Madre. The paternal grandmother is Mrs. Fran Dean of Palm Desert who formerly lived on Arbolado in Arcadia for years. Susan grew up in Arcadia and taught at Bonita Park School for six years.

The Woman's Club of Arcadia presented Mayor Floretta Lauber with an engraved certificate which read, "Whereas she has not only brought credit to herself but honor and distinction to the club and the city of Arcadia for her outstanding service and dedication to her community. Mayor Lauber is a past president of the Woman's Club of Arcadia and the honor was presented to her when past presidents were honored. Arline Fry, outgoing president of the Arcadia Republican Women's Club was honored by her board at a luncheon at David Copperfield's in the mall. She was presented with a plaque with a mounted gold elephant and Arline gave each board member a needlepoint keyring in red, white and blue and the Republican elephant insignia and '76. The gifts were the handiwork of Arline.

Enjoying the luncheon were Marcella Whitmore, Doris Covell, Jane Moline, Marian) Lurie, Gloria Ar-bucci, Jennie Wells, bev Margett, Lois Mullen, Bertha Thomas, Cheryl Sherman, June Johnson, Mary Young, Marie Schmidt, Barbara Saelid, Betty Foy, Ida Scovill and Betty Gilmore. Shirley and Ted Cano and their two children, Leslie and Teddy, are enjoying the visit of Shirley's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Marcus Salinger, who By CATHERINE 1HUNDY flew out from Port Charlotte, Fla. for the holidays.

The Canos always entertain at a large open house on Christmas Eve, but Ihis year an added attraction will be a reunion planned for Mr. Salinger. Three old friends, classmates and with years together in Washington, D.C. will be special guests. They will be Mr.

and Mrs. Milan Pavich. who was in Naval Intelligence; Mr. and Mrs. Michael Davich, he was formerly with Nassau and is now associated with Track, and both couples are visiting here.

Third are Mr. and Mrs. George Zegovich now living in San Diego. The Canos plan to entertain 40 guests on Christmas Eve, and adding to the enjoyment will be the presence of Ted's parents, Mr. and Mrs.

Francis Cano, and his grandmother, Lee Battglea, who will come from San Francisco. The Arcadia float is in the 18th unit and will be the eighth float in tbe parade on New Year's Day. Phil and Jo Ann Scott will take the Arcadia Court to the parade spot and park there for the convenience of the girls. They have to report in at 3 a.m. and will take off at 8.

Ik-Dick John. Tournament president elect at the Dec. 21 meeting of the Arcadia City Council, gave the city back $2,500 it had contributed toward the float. The association is now self-supporting. This pasi year has been a most successful one with membership nearly double, the Coronation Ball attracting the largest guest list, and every' activity put on by the group making money.

The Tournament association is another example of community cooperation and able leadership. The Arcadia' Tournament of Roses Association will entertain visitors from Australia on Dec. 29 at the home of the president, Charles and Ruth Gilb will host the party, a' mini-buffet will be served and association members will meet the visitors. Invitations have been sent to each Tournament member. Sierra Guild's Christmas party was held in the home of Mr.

and Mrs. Perry Cope on San Carlos Road and Mrs. William Shuster was party chairman. There were Christmas decorations in each room and a large white flocked Christmas tree with red twinkling lights and ornaments was the main attraction. The buffet table held many tapered candelabra surrounded by greenery interspersed with fresh flowers and colored twinkling lights.
